I started my trip out in Johannesburg and nothing else really measured up to my accomodations after my stay at Idube. Idube has a variety of very clean rooms that are tastefully decorated with hip colors , crisp white sheets and fluffy duvets, which makes it feel much more upscale than the "budget" accomodation price. Idube is centrally located and... More

Hi Debi Thanks so much for the amazing review - I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Its always good to know that my mission of "home away from home" for my guests is working. It was such a pity that we didn't get to see you before you flew out of Joburg - but please do keep... More

Staying at Idube is a "Home" away from home as it is relaxed and very friendly to come here. (They have 'real' coffee, not just instant) It's just clean and safe... Geoff

What a charming establishment - my wife and I recently stayed at Pension Idube and really enjoyed the stay. From the small touches in the room, the chatty & super friendly manager, the swimming pool, the cozy breakfast area and the decadent lounge to being so centrally located - it is a winner of a place to stay when in... The guesthouse has seen a change in management a few months ago and the new owner Aubrey has done a great job in renovating the guesthouse. The bedrooms are warmly decorated, the living room is lovely to chill, the help-yourself breakfast is catered for the intercontinental breakfast lovers and there is a swimming pool. The guesthouse makes you wanna stay... More

Hi Jess Thanks so much for the wonderful review. You'll be pleased to know that the new kitchen is going in and the bathrooms have both been retiled... and the pink wall is also history. I do hope you enjoyed your stay with us, and I look forward to welcoming you back to the even-more-improved Pension Idube. Warm regards Aubrey... More

The rooms were sufficiently equipped and cozy, we stayed in a four bed room with an ensuite that was well kept. Breakfast was decent continental, including some fresh fruit. The location (right beside Melville) is a bonus - cab fares in Joburg can get to be a bit of a drag so it's nice to have something walkable, and Melville... More

I first stumbled upon Idube almost exactly 2 years ago- first week of April 2009- while backpacking around Southern Africa. I came to Joburg to fly out to Ethiopia, and liked Idube and Joburg so much that I came back and lived at the Pension from May - August 2009 while attending Wits. It was homey, clean, safe, and lots... More

A friend and I stopped over at the Pension iDube for a couple of nights on our way to Mozambique. Trish who runs this guest house was a fabulous and welcoming host, who went out of her way to ensure that we knew about the best visitor attractions in Jo'berg and ensured that we, as two female travellers, were safe... I have been staying at Pension Idube for 2 weeks now. It's so affordable - and breakfast, room cleaning, and tour information all included. I also want to rebuke the statement that Trish is a throwback from the apartheid era. At first, I also was offended at her straight talk. Yet we cannot just jump into a foreign culture with... More

Pension Idube is a great way to stay in Johannesburg: Very close to Melville and also not too far away from places like Newtown and Constitution Hill it rpovides nice and save accomodation in almost "Central" Jo'burg. Eventhough it is listed in some backpacker directories it is in my view far from the usual backpacker: More a nice, cosy place... More
