We were thrilled that they had a room avaiable! After packing up our Tombstone camp site in the cold, rain and mud - then driving 200+ miles over mud slick roads in the rain and wind, the Eagle Plains Hotel is a welcome oasis in the middle of nowhere. We stayed here twice on our trip to Inuvik - the... More

Eagle Plains maybe the only game in town, but considering its remoteness, this is a good property. Stayed here going to/coming back from Inuvik. Rooms were clean albeit dated for some tastes. Staff were helpful; food plentiful and well prepared. This is the place to meet locals and experience the true north. Be sure to checkout the lounge.

There is not much choice when travelling between Dawson City and Inuvik unless you drive straight through. we did not have that will power or energy to do that. The rooms were average and other than having to bang on the door to the room next to us at 1:00 in the morning to tell the people to shut up it... Eagle Plains is, quite literally, the most remote (i.e. distant from other human habitation), road-accessible hotel you will ever visit. Take everything you know about how things are supposed to work in an urban environment, and throw it out the window. Think carefully about the isolation and self-sufficiency involved in running an establishment in a place like this. Consider the... More

Eagle Plains Hotel is half way up the Dempster Highway to Inuvik and is a welcome sight after driving in the mud for hours like we did. This place is not fancy but it sure serves the purpose, there is no other choice. You can't expect fancy out in the bush. The rooms were clean, and the shower never felt... More

We stopped to eat there on our way down and back from Whitehorse . The waitress had no clue, service was really bad maybe if she paid more attention to the customers instead of her iPhone or iPod perhaps we would've have some good service. On the other hand the food was good both times.

On a trip up The Dempster, I stayed overnight at this hotel and had no problems. The check in went well and I had a nice and very filling dinner that evening. In that this hotel was in the midst of some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever witnessed, I am amazed at some of the reviews which... More

Situated midway on the 800 km long "highway" (dirt and mud trail would be a better word) between Dawson and Inuvik, this hotel is the only game in town. If you're weary from traveling and planning to stay the night, you have no other choice unless you want to journey another 400 km further. The hotel looks like it was... More

While clean , this outdated hole needs a makeover . The owner has the personality of a shoe . Ask her anything and it seems you are disturbing her highness . The food in the restaurant was very basic and easy yet was cold every time (3) . The French cook employed there was personable only after leaving a big... More

Braved the Dempster Highway on the first day it opened April 2009. Road just skimmed, front drive Winnebago fishtailed precariously for most of the journey. Terrifying but fantastic.Woke up 10 minutes from Arctic Circle. Amazing experience. Hotel ok but check that there is fuel before you go. Closed during winter so food is limited.
