We initially contacted the James Thompson after reading the overall reviews and determining that it was within our budget and had what we were looking for. My first impression was when I called to check availability and talked to the co-owner Guita, she was quite happy to offer us a room with private bathroom for $120 which included both taxes... More

My husband and I stayed here on our 10th anniversary in 2009. The location was perfect! We only left the walled city 2x during our 1 week stay, so it was just right for us. Greg was the perfect blend of helpful and friendly without being overbearing or "in your face". We had the room with our own bathroom and... More

We were there in June 2011 and have travelled a lot since. This place has become our bench mark, and we haven't found any that match it for comfort and historic elegance. The rooms were clean and extremely comfortable. I have never spent so much time in the morning just relaxing before going for breakfast (we were the last ones... More

We really enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was enormous and delicious, prepared fresh for us. Greg was very helpful and answered all our questions about the city. Our room was lovely and we enjoyed the 3D tv on a snowy afternoon.

We spent the last weeknd of the 2012 Winter Carnival at the MHJT. Greg and Guita were very helpful, responsive and accomodating to our inquiries, reservations and stay. Very historic, lots of character,; the house and Greg! Easy to find, located where you park your car and dont get back into it untilo you are leaving for good. There were... More

Its in the heart of walled city, one can walk to all the the most interesting sites. The owners are very hospitable and knowledgeable of the place. Breakfast! it is was so good and so much .... that I wished I booked my lunch heaps later in the aftenoon. The house itself is historical. better value, specially if one is... More

This historic home is located right in middle of the Old City, just steps from the famous Chateau Frontenac. Greg (the proprietor) not only sets an elegant table and prepares a mean French toast, but he is also full of helpful tips and historic information about Quebec City so you don't miss a thing during your stay. This has to... More

Our hostess, Guitta, went above and beyond all expectation to make our stay unforgettable. The location is as central to all sights as possible. Breakfast was a feast, with a great selection of delectable food. The house is very authentic yet provides all the amenities one could require. Very family friendly, accommodating and welcoming. Parking is tight, but so is... More

Despite the name of the place, the tenant, Greg, is English-speaker, but I believe his wife speaks French. He made us visit the house, which is all in wood, old style, I felt like privileged to have access to such a beautiful place. We had a very big room with a comfortable bed, shared bathroom but it wasn't an issue.... More
