This house has a very interesting history, built for James Thomson in the late 18th century: http://www.biographi.ca/en/bio/thompson_james_6E.html The location is ideal for explorers of Vieux Québec. It is on a side street in the Upper Town that is close to many restaurants and historic sites, but that is also calm and quiet. My room was comfortable but fairly basic. Weak... More

We stayed 3 nights in the Maison Historique James Thompson B&B in May, 2015. What a great find! The location couldn't be more perfect - close walking to all sites in Historic Quebec - just inside the St. Louis gate. Guitta is a wonderful host - we took a wrong turn coming into town, called Guitta who immediately came and... More

The bedrooms are all amazing. The breakfasts are divine. The location is immeasurable. The price is unbeatable. The host is the most wonderful mother of 2, who only has a big heart and compassion for all her guests. 5 stars are hard to achieve but the overall experience is inexplicable until you have lived it! This is by far the... More

We had called and arranged for the main floor bedroom due to several infirmities, but had to ascend the outside steps to enter the house- not a problem for me, but two more flights would have been. The room was very comfortable and well furnished. Breakfast was excellent- much better that that at any other B&B we've stayed at on... More

The James Thompson house is located in Québec's old town. All main sights are in walking distance. The tasty breakfast is served in a friendly and spacious breakfast room. Our room had a really comfy bed and even a TV.

What a wonderful B&B! We arrived quite late (or early, depending on your perspective) and Guitta, our host, was responsive and very accommodating. Our room was perfect -- both the beds were very comfortable and it seemed like there were pillows for every type of sleeper. I'd return for the bathtub alone. Our breakfasts were healthy and hearty. I felt... More

Arriving in this renovated historical house in the heart of the VILLE HAUTE in Quebec city is simply wonderful! We stayed 2 nights on one of the rooms on the 2nd floor. Spacious room, excellent bed, great bathroom, cosy antichamber. And the innkeper, Guitta, beats it all. She is a charming young lady, she keeps you company during breakfast and... More

This is a charming B&B. Stayed 4 days, 3 nights during March, off-season. Guitta, our hostess, was so helpful with the booking beforehand. On the mornings we did not rush off to sight-see, we had long, delightful discussions with Guitta. Winter visitors, be advised that boots must be left in downstairs hall (wish I didn't have to put on cold... More

You need to pack slippers as bots have to be left near the front door. If you have any kind of immobility do not think of staying here as there are steps to the front door and steep, narrow dangerous stairs leading to the bedrooms. We had two flights to climb and had to carry our suitcases ourselves to the... More

We spent 4 days at the B&B during Carnival. The location is within walking distance to Lower Quebec, the Plains of Abraham, and lots of restaurants. The house was larger than I expected and we had a large room on the third room with a private bathroom. The breakfasts were excellent and generous. Guitta was very friendly and spoke both... More
