Room was nice and location excellent. Otherwise not a nice stay. At one point had an issue with the room which required us to spend 45 minutes trying to fix including the unsealed bathroom leaking into the floor below. Rather than being thanked or compensated for our efforts we were blamed for having caused intentional damage. We never saw the owner our entire stay but had an uneasy time as they were clearly coming and going from our room and interactions were often panicked and disorganised. Other reviews seem to have had completely different interactions with the host but for us it was uncomfortable

Stayed 4 nights too many. The location was excellent!! First and last night we experienced load banging and construction noises next to us anywhere from 5:30 - 9:30 PM. We called the owner and she apologized profusely and offered to discount our rooms (which she did not). We even offered to write a letter to help her cause legally. That was only the start, there was no breakfast (as stated on the website-free) and no one to greet you if you had questions or wanted restaurant recommendations. It keeps getting worse. The toilet flapper didn't allow the toilet to flush she we had to continue fixing it, the sink handle broke off and the small refrigerator coils recycle every 30 minutes keeping us up all night. Upon leaving a Bookings.com rating I received the following, unprofessional response from the owner, in which she basically called us liars. "You exaggerated everything for nothing. Jeremy was there 24hé24 because my mom have a problem. You came to visit Quebec city and not the owner. You have the noise only Monday evening. That is not our fault. So sad" If she was staying at her own facility perhaps she would have the same experience we had. STAY AWAY!!!!!

My wife, Jo, and I recently had the pleasure of visiting Quebec City again. We wanted to stay within Old Quebec and found the B&B de la Fontaine, Our host, Victoria, was fabulous with her warm welcome and her assistance with restaurants and places to see. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip!

Although the location is good, there are many other options nearby that may be better choices. To a tart with, the doors one has to enter are horrendously heavy and unwieldy. Since at least 2013 reviews, guests have been complaining and suggesting repair or replacement. I didn’t realize the status remained the same. A friendly host greeted us and answered a few questions, but we never saw her again—for three days! When we asked about breakfast, she said there is none due to Covid. But there is no reduction in price! Three of the rooms are up long, steep, creaky stairs (no elevator) so it is easy to disturb other guests. The room and ensuite are minute, even smaller than those in Paris hotels. The mattress on the bed needs replacement as well as the linens which didn’t seem clean (found blood spots). Dusty fake flowers are part of the decor. I would suggest looking elsewhere.

We stayed at B&B de la Fontaine for four nights during Carnaval 2020 and found it to be a great deal for the price we paid. Victoria, the proprietor, was very friendly and made us a hot breakfast every morning (food ranged from waffles to eggs to crepes). She also had a wide selection of teas, fruits, and breads available. Our room was comfortable and clean. The bathroom was a bit small, though we expected nothing different from such a historic property. This B&B is located on a quiet street in the Old City. All of the Old City and Carnaval sites that were were interested in were within a few minutes' walking distance from the B&B, which made it easy for us to come home and warm up between activities on these cold days.

Really great location, just a minute from the Chateau Frontenac and a beautiful boardwalk by the the river. At the same time quiet street. Perfect. Very nice lady Victoria was present there throughout the day, preparing delicious omelettes, waffles or crapes for breakfast. Place has very nice boutique atmosphere. I would recommend it to my friends.

The location was perfect for touring Old Quebec. Unfortunately, that is where the positive review ends. We had a very serious issue that we felt was not dealt with to our satisfaction by management. We were very disappointed in our visit.

Stayed here with my husband, the location was the redeeming feature, literally around the corner from the famous Le Frontenac Hotel in the heart of the old town. The room was tight, but adequate and was very clean. The bathroom is more like a wardrobe in the corner of the room, more like the size you would expect in a static caravan or on a barge,so if you are very tall or anything over than tiny, you probably wouldn’t fit in the shower cubicle, it’s about half the size of a standard shower cubicle . The front door of the B&B is so heavy and is a real struggle to open especially with suitcases. The front entrance is also shabby and could do with smartening up. Breakfast is ok and there is a cooked option each morning, but it’s set and there is no choice, but you can have cereals, fruit salad, toast, juice, tea and coffee. Although the reservation I made through Booking.com said I would only pay at the property, they took $100 deposit immediately (6 months before I stayed) followed by $600 approx a week or so before my stay , which exceeded the cost of the total booking and it must have taken 10 plus emails to Booking.com and the property directly to get the overcharge refunded. Victoria manages the property and she is very nice, patient and personable and extremely helpful in any way she can when advising you on trips, activities etc. If you want a basic, very clean property in the heart of the old town, I would choose this B&B, just make sure you check the amount you agreed to pay and the amount they charge you.

The location is great and it’s clean but that’s about all I can say! The room itself is by the front door so you hear everybody coming and going. The room is cramped. Once you lay a suitcase down there’s nowhere to move. . Bathroom is so tiny you can hardly turn around in it. If you need to go in the night, be. extra cautious- easy to bump into bed. We were literally on our own except for the person who helps out and cooks breakfast. Jeremy. A nice young man but not the owner. Felt like a room rental. We were given a scrap of paper with the wifi code. That’s it. I had lost my phone and there was nobody to speak to. No phone in room. No maps in the small entrance. Uncomfortable 2 nights. Bed tipped to one side and sheets appeared to be microfibre. No wall plugs to speak of near bed. Really wanted some hot water or tea at night but didn’t know we could have gone down to the basement breakfast room until the second day. Breakfast ok- we skipped it the second day. Too crowded and close to cooking area. We booked well in advance and feel somewhat deceived by the photos. Glad there was lots to explore so we didn’t have to hang about in there.

We recently stayed at de la Fontaine over the first weekend of Quebec Carnaval from Feb 8-11. Visited with another couple. They had room #1 and we had #2 (a double room). Both rooms are on the main floor. There are 3 more rooms located up a steep flight of stairs. #1 room was relatively small with a tiny bathroom. #2 was lovely. Very comfortable bed, large wardrobe, a sofa and 2 chairs. Both rooms had small bar fridges. Although the building is old it was very clean! I was a bit hesitant to book knowing the age of the building but there is no worries. Breakfast in the morning is included. Fresh fruit, toast etc and a small hot meal. The first morning we had an egg and 2 pancakes the 2nd morning was a crepe and bacon - not a large meal but enough. Good coffee and juice. The location was perfect for exploring Old Quebec and walking up hill to the Carnaval just outside the old city walls. We would not hesitate to book these accommodations again in the future.
