I visited Quebec City for the first time Oct 6 - 9, 2009. I lucked out by staying at the Chateau Laurier. The hotel is situated along the Grand Allee, just a 10 minute walk into the heart of Old Quebec with its cobbled streets and fantastic restaurants. The hotel is also just across the street from the Plains of... more

When booking on-line told we would have a King bed, on arrival we were advised when booking on-line despite what you are told, you are not given a King bed. Room dirty, scum stain on bath, previous guests used soap on bath soap holder. No bath-robes. Room dusty, smelled of a dog kennel. Previously stayed at hotel next door (W.......)... more

It began when we arrived. We were shown our "deluxe" room (a whopping $279 per night) and it was nothing like the picture on their site (http://www.vieux-quebec.com/en/laurier/rooms/the-deluxe-room/#). The room was very dated (like those noted in previous reviews) and had very little storage. The hall closet had a curtain for a door and the shower was the smallest I've ever... more

I read many of the tripadvisor reviews before taking a "chance" and booking a room at this hotel. I think the problem is that the present hotel is a combination and improvement of two separate hotels so there is obvious difference on the floors and it is a little confusing to find your way around at first. The newer hotel... more

The hotel has a lovely, airy lobby and reception area - completely modern and really welcoming. However, upon getting to the room - which was difficult to reach - it was clearly not of 4* standard. It was supposedly "European Class", and had a tiny bathroom, a door which would not open when the bathroom door was open, and little... more

Horrible room. Can I say more? The room is at best 9X12 with a flat hard small bed. One chair, small desk, old carpet. Perhaps this is the prison cell of the chateau? For $177/night US Dollars, I feel robbed. Antiquated old carpet, old furniture. I am here now and will try my best to find another hotel to say... more

Hotel is fine but beware: The spa offers the worst manicure in Canada. Never in my experience (and I have had lots of manicures) have I ever had my cuticles cut without my hands being soaked. I can't belive i paid for that.... more

This was one of the hotels near my wife's conference. It's also right on Grande Allee, and steps from Battlefield Park. Most of the city is within walking distance, but be warned, this hotel is uphill from almost everywhere. If you walk straight to the river, you'll be at the top of the Promenade for a great view, and a... more

I read older reviews by guests who were disappointed with room size and location in the hotel. I will say that my wife and I were pleased with our choice to upgrade from the conference rate room, which placed us in the newer section. Our room faced the park, had 2 queen beds, was well appointed and spacious, very clean,... more

A very nice lobby greets you, and a courteous and helpful staff. Room itself was small, but adequate for 2. Everything functioned perfectly. Does need some updating to furnishings, tvs, but in the care and cleaniness of the room this hotel delivers. Rooms were well kept, beds firm and sheets crisp. Bathrooms very clean. In room amenities a bit skimpy... more
