As a no-fuss, uncomplicated traveler, I prefer to stay in comfy, homestyle room, with full duvet comforter, especially on the 3rd floor!; windows which actually open to the historic street below, real brick wall, wake up to the sound of horse-shoes on cobblestones, people laughing or talking below, warm-hearted staff, privated parking in the back at low cost = best... Great location in the heart of Old Quebec. Thought the negative reviews were exaggerated. Small but quaint. Towels were changed daily; beds were made up. The staff was welcoming and friendly. They were willing to struggle with English since our French was so poor. However, since we stayed there for 6 days we began to notice things. Accidentally dropping a... More

We called in to cancel and they wont accept it. They said we had to cancel online. But AAA agent booked it. We don't have access to that... and we cannot wait till Monday after which it will be too late to cancel per their 3 day notice cancel policy.... awful

Although I have backpacked through third world countries, I have never had such a terrible accomodation experience as I did at La Caravelle. Having viewed the stone walls in the brochure, I was dissapointed that my room had plaster like walls, more disspointed when its tiny size and the room's dampness sunk in (the room was in the basement with... My boyfriend and I booked a room for two nights in August and were horrified at the condition of the room we were given. We booked on line and were impressed with the pictures shown and were looking forward to our visit to Quebec City. When we arrived at the hotel, we drove to the back of the building where... More

Spent 3 nights at La Caravelle in August 2004. This hotel has a lot of character and charm. Rooms are not spacious, but have nice real stone walls and are comfortable. The staff on reception here are also extremely friendly and helpful. Another plus is the location, right on Rue St Louis in the unbelievably picturesque old part of Quebec... More

I agree with the previous reviewer. We stayed at this hotel in April 2003, because of the location, price, and character (stone walls). The room was clean, breakfast was next door at La Caravelle Restaurant and there was space for our car in back of the building. When we first arrived in our room, my daughter pulled back the curtains,... More

Nice, clean and in the center of town. Reasonably priced and friendly folks. It was close to everything, almost next to the Frontenac. The restaurant breakfat was not so great. Valet parking. Unloading lugage was uncomfortable because you have to park on the street and interrupt traffic, but the price, and the location were well worth it.
