We stayed as a couple for three nights. The B&B is very charming with lots of character. It is spotlessly clean and we were very well taken care of. Breakfast is good. Location is great! We stayed in the First Nations room which is a bit small for 2 people. Also, the breakfast / kitchen area is directly on the... More

I am personally not a fan of B&Bs, but Romain Montagne is in a class by itself. The decor is unique, both Victorian (lobby and dining room) and ultra-modern (full kitchen and bathroom), a feast for anyone who loves beautiful things. Each bedroom has a theme and I slept very well in the First Nations room. Breakfast consists of fresh... More

Was amazed after my student son booked this lovely B and B for the weekend for me and my other son. The room was beautifully decorated and the bed and pillows so comfortable that we slept extremely well. The breakfast was fresh and healthy and brought back memories of Paris when the incredibly edible almond croissant was served:) Our hosts... More

What can I say to add to all the wonderful things people have said about Michel and Daniel's wonderful B&B? This was our second time staying at Romain Montagne. And we will be back again! The location is perfect - in the Plateau, very close to Mont Royal for a nice hike, close to the excitement of St. Laurent and... More

Our home away from home. So clean. Great hospitality. Very welcoming. A very trendy area of Montreal with great restaurants near by. Walking distance to down town. Close to the metro. Hands down, better than any hotel!!

If you are looking for a charming place to stay near McGill University, convenient to shopping and fabulous restaurants, but on a quiet residential street away from the commercial thoroughfare, look no further. Each room in this inn is stylishly decorated in thematically appropriate pieces and warm colors that gracefully enhance their cozy appeal. We stayed in the First Nation... More

At first, I was not keen on sharing a bath room with others...and it is not for everyone. HOWEVER, Michel and Daniel (the hosts) make up BIG TIME for this situation. It felt like coming home. Warm colours, beautifully decorated with ecclectic pieces and something for the eye in every corner. The rooms are individually decorated. I saw all of... More

We have stayed at Gite Romain Montagne many times over the last few years while visiting our daughter at McGill. It's been a fantastic base of operations for us as we wander the city, explore its sights, sample its restaurants and get in some quality time as a family. The B&B is wonderfully located in the heart of Montreal's vibrant... More

B&B Romain Montagne is a wonderful jewel set in a wonderful city! Very comfortable, clean, colourful, with warm, caring hosts Michel & Daniel! This lovely B&B embodies the best of this remarkable city - artistry, beauty, comfort and ease. Just what I needed! : ) And the location is walking distance everywhere, including the lovely Mont Royal park nearby -... More

Coming back to Romain Montagne this year for my second three-night stay was every bit as enjoyable as my first visit last year. Very comfortable and clean, attractively decorated, plush linens and towels, excellent breakfast and conversation, convenient location in a great neighborhood, and cordial hosts ... it's definitely top on my list for Montreal lodging!

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
