The neighbourhood is great, but the hotel itself is very dated (which is not, in itself. a problem) but the furnishings and rooms all seem very worn out and dirty. We never ate the complimentary breakfast because there are so many other options in the area. Also, parking is available, but they charge excessively for it and won't give a... More

I would avoid this hotel at all costs, for they will do their best to scam you. I was charged a full 3 nights when I was forced to cancel my booking. When I complained, I was told I could recoup the losses by rebooking at a later time. When I was ready to rebook, they rudely refused to accept... More

We make an impromptu decision to visit montreal from Kingston for the labour day weekend and couldn't get a reservation on our usual chains of hotels. We ended up booking hotel plateau royale by Travelocity. After making a reservation we read in horror of the mostly bad review and wanted to change our mind but it was an absolutely no... More

We asked hotels.com for a minimum 3star with a pool. They gave us this place. It's a 2star accredited but a 1star at best. No parking outside, old sticky carpet inside. Walls are cracking and the whole place smells musty. Then you get into the rooms. Holes in the walls, poorly fitted air conditioning unit in the window that didn't... More

I paid premium price to stay one night at this hotel. Although the hotel site claimed the displayed price was the final total price, additional taxes were charged. My room smelled of smoke, appeared frayed and not fully clean. It was also quite noisy.

It's am affordable 2 star Hotel next to the Mont Royal. The rooms are clean and there is a small breakfast available in the morning. Also, they offer parking for $20. The neighbourhood is really nice with a lot of small restaurants and pubs/bars and it is only a 30min walk to downtown and vieux Montreal. I wouldn't want to... More

I'll start by saying that the two of us got a comfortable king-size bed, centrally located in one of North America's great cities, with breakfast and passable wifi, for $60/night, all-in (prepaid via Expedia; your mileage may vary). I'm going to make some critical observations in coming paragraphs, but I do so in that context. Our room for the first... More

I was careless not to have read others' reviews when I booked this hotel. They cheat you when it comes to final billing price. Your booking clearly states the price you need to pay for the number of people staying with them. But they bill an extra CAD 15 per day citing no reason. Invariably every guest ends up with... More

I had a very disappointing experience with this hotel. When we tried to book online for 2 people, the rate shown was $58. I changed the number of people to 3 and the rate shown was $67. I compared this rate with other hotels and booked this hotel for 3 adults because of their lower rate. The hotel charged us... More

August 2013 we booked this via booking.com and the price was clearly stated at CAD 246. We actually had to pay 400 CAD, including 20 CAD for iday parking which is a nightmare there. Breakfast is bad even by North American standards and the floors are dirty. Think twice before using this place, it was our only bad experience during... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
