Terrific location to base our 3-day wedding anniversary in Montreal. Quiet residential neighborhood only 2 blocks from summertime pedestrian section of Rue Sainte-Catherine East. 10 minutes walk to Metro. B&B lovingly restored with craftsmanship and style plus comforts of air-conditioning, garden balconies and first-class breakfast taylored to our specific dietary preferences. Owner Alain Pigeon cordial, knowledgeable and accommodating. We took... More

Alain Pigeon runs a first rate establishment! He himself is welcoming, helpful, informative, attentive and a true gentleman. The house is a beautifully restored 145 year old, high ceilinged, spacious structure with six guest rooms. Room 2 features a king-sized, very comfortable bed, a three piece bath (sink/mirror in bedroom), a good sized private balcony with table, two chairs, potted... More

I just spent three nights at the Alexandre Logan B&B,so called because it is on the corner of Alexandre Deserve and Logan streets, a few 100 metres walk from Le Village (the gay village). The owner and host Alain is charming, very helpful and a great cook. He made fabulous breakfasts each morning - one morning a delicious waffles with... More

Our weekend in Montreal would not have been as wonderful without the comfort of the Alexandre Logan, the hospitality of Alain, the delicious breakfasts, the option of a morning outdoor shower, and the location of the B&B. Alain welcomed us very late and took the time to help us plan our next day in Montreal. The room was clean and... More

The breakfast was simply amazing and we looked forward to it every morning. Alain was very helpful and organised. We arrived late and he waited for us to check us in. The room was clean and cosy. Will definitely go back if we visit Montreal again!

The Alexandre Logan was the perfect choice for the Canadian Grand Prix. It is only 1 or 2 blocks to St Catherine Street where you can pick up the metro a few blocks down. You do need to change trains once on your way to Jean-Drapeau park but this is very simple and there are signs explaining where to go.... More

I recently planned a long weekend in Montreal to celebrate a surprise birthday getaway for my wife. I searched tripadvisor for a special place that would allow us to experience Montreal in a neighborhood, away from the big hotels. The Alexandre Logan was the first place I found and really the only place I needed to look at. The location... More

I recently stayed at the Alexandre Logan on honeymoon with my husband. Alain is a wonderful host and is happy to share local knowledge and recommendations for restaurants etc. The breakfasts were absolutely amazing and we looked forward to them every day! Only one option is served each morning but I really liked this as I am not a fussy... More

Alain is an amazing host! Even before we arrived he had already provided helpful information about parking and helped us secure a gated spot (additional cost) for our car with our attached bikes. Once we arrived he had a map for us, helped us locate key locations and made great recommendations. The building itself is beautifully renovated and our room... More

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighborhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomized by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
