I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in July and i found it pretty good for the price i payed. The room was a decent size and with 2 double bed that were comfortable. Fresh towels everyday, a small fridge and even a coffee machine. It is conveniently located near the Berri Uqam metro station, super close to St... More

Good location. Relatively clean. Very thin walls. Expect to hear your neighbours, simply conversing. Bring earplugs. Breakfast is typical. Front desk people very kind and helpful with directions. Expect to get what you pay for.

This hotel was a great disappointment. It was old, shabby and there was nothing elegant about it. Those days are long gone. Bulbs did not work in the lamps, the bathroom only had one bulb working. The sheets were so threadbare, literally ,that there were small holes in the fabric. Breakfast consisted of muffins and croissants and the croissants were... More

I have travelled extensively...and; as I have stated in previous reviews: All I want in a hotel is a clean place to sleep and a private bath! I have stayed in hotels rated all star categories and whill I would never condiser staying in a two star property in some countries; in Montreal that indicates basic clean accommodation. This hotel... More

I went to Montreal to attend a conference, and I looked to affordable and clean accommodation, as well as close to the convention center. The Elegant satisfied the criteria. It is simple, clean, the bed was comfortable, the internet worked in the bedroom, and folks at front desk were friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very simple. Can't complain.

Be careful when booking - there is one type of booking that does not allow for cancellation at all, so once you booked, you have to pay right away and there is no room for cancelling immediately or anytime thereafter. Hotel is located about 3 blocks from Latin Quarter, so it has a good location. Hotel does not provide parking,... More

Really good option when looking for a budget hotel in Montreal. Really good location, near the Downtown Area, at walking distance to two of the Summer festivals that were happening at the time, plus half block away from the city's main metro station. Staff was quite helpful and breakfast, even though with just a few items, was filling. The area... More

Nothing special really, the WiFi goes out quite frequently, service is adequate but nothing to write home about. Definitely has a unique smell here, nothing awful or anything but it does have a smell. Room are good for the price, although not exactly stylish. The bathrooms are nice and clean, although the shower's water pressure was a little weak. Having... More

We recently traveled to Montreal and were just looking for a place to put our heads. This place was good for that especially at a price that was at a fraction of the price of a brand name hotel. To keep my review simple: Pros: Cheap, "continental" breakfast included (this was just muffins, croissants and stale coffee so don't expect... More

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighborhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomized by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
