During our visit to Montreal, my partner and I stayed at Maison Desjardins. What a wonderful place! The room was beautifully decorated, clean, and spacious, and the B&B is perfectly located, only two blocks from the gay village, which is far enough away for a good night's sleep. The owner and staff went out of their way to make sure... More

We loved Maison des Jardins. The room and bath were spacious and modern. The breakfasts were amazing. One morning we were served bananas foster crepes! And the hosts Robert and Luc were informative and helpful.

This was my first time at this particular B&B. It is very clean and well kept. Luc the proprietor is the nicest man you will meet. The room is very well appointed, the robes are nice touch. Each morning a tasty breakfast is made (different every morning), there is always fresh croissants available as well (very tasty indeed). Luc is... More

This was my first time staying at a B&B so I was a little nervous but also excited. I had booked the last room available for myself and my friend to stay in on Expedia, but there was a little mix up with the rooms and I was told we were staying in a similar room. When we got there,... More

Our first experience staying at a B&B and it was fabulous.. Very clean and cozy... The room was very comfortable with a beautiful private bath and his and hers robes.Breakfast was prepared by the owners and it was delicious ( fresh croissants, ham, eggs, juice and coffee)... Would encourage a stay here..I know we will be back.

I had never stayed at a b&b. A friend recommended Maison Des Jardins where I spent three wonderful days last March. It was a lovely home and the accommodations were extremely comfortable; breakfast was plentiful & nutritious. Its convenient location to all that Montreal's cultural life has to offer made it easy to get around. I would highly recommend for... More

You can't beat the location of the charming B&B, it's minutes from Beaudry Metro and the gay village. Clean spacious rooms, I had a garden suite which was actually in the basement, but you wouldn't know! The daily breakfast was home made and very filling. Very friendly staff and owners, can't beat this place!

I am writing this review of Maison des Jardins and we have not even left yet. We fly out tomorrow morning but I am already missing this place. I am so depressed to leave this welcoming city and most of all to leave Maison des Jardins. I can say with all honesty that this is the most welcoming place I... More

A friend recommended this BnB. Being a local, he said several of his friends who visit & like to be close to The Village all have raved about it: they are correct! Paul & Marc, the "houseboys", made me feel perfectly at home--was my 1st time in Montreal! Breakfasts were a low-key social event. Made friends with other guests; one... More

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighborhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomized by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
