I stayed for 4 nights recently. The room was very clean and up to date. The location is great, just a few steps to the Village and subway. The owner, Andre, worked hard to make me feel welcome and answer any questions. There is a full cooked breakfast which was different every morning. The wifi worked well. I would recommend... More

The location is simply amazing, less than a block away from the Village. It is also close to subway station, which connects you to rest of Montreal. The proprietor, Andres, was friendly and warm. When I asked for a local Asian eatery for dinner on the first night, he recommended a nearby place which was great. He was attentive to... More

I stayed at Sir Montcalm over the long Memorial Day weekend with a friend. To summarize my experience, the room and the location were great, the hospitality on the other hand was seriously lacking. I would not stay here again. For the price we paid approx C$286/ night plus tax (which was on the pricey side for Montreal). This is... More

Stayed here 4 nights. The place is just perfect for gay couples. I usually wouldn't choose a bed&breakfast but I was recommended to stay here. Rooms are incredibly beautiful and well kept. The garden where they offer the breakfast is really calm and nice!. Location couldn't be more perfect just in the heart of Le Village. I would definitely stay... More

From the fine and very stylish accommodations to the host Andre and the breakfast chef staying here was a delight. Every detail was beautiful. The garden terrace and balcony are restful and one is surrounded by plantings and potted flowers. The location is in the heart of the Village and it's easy to get to many restaurants, bars, clubs and... More

For our first trip to Montreal we found the ideal place to stay on almost every level. The room was very comfortable with great bedding. It had all the details covered from music, TV, and phone to mouth wash and soaps. The common areas felt just like home. The breakfasts were perfectly prepared and some of the best we've had... More

This B&B is located in The Gay Village and just around the corner from the main pedestrian thoroughfare. Parking is offered at another location for $20/day. The breakfasts were to die for, the best in my experience. Our room was ok but the toilet was located about 5ft from the bed. The door to the toilet was a sliding one... More

We loved our stay at Sir Montcalm! First, the location of the B&B is in a part of Montreal that is truly the heart of the city and includes an exciting nightlife. Lots of fun bars, great restaurants and shopping that are all within easy walking distance. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by Andre who quickly helped... More

My partner and I recently stayed at the Sir Montcalm and we completely fell in love. The Sir Montcalm is simply stunning! It is the most beautiful place I have ever stayed at. We arrived on a Wednesday around 12 noon and rang the door bell, we were quickly greeted by one of the owners Andre and his warming smile.... More

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighborhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomized by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
