Stayed here during between Christmas and New Year's. I was going to give it only a 4 star review, but I realized that would be unfair as I tend to shy away from Bed and Breakfasts in general. They can be a little too intimate for my taste. (breakfast with strangers, etc) However, if I reviewed the place as if... More

My partner & I recently stayed at Sir Montcalm our 2 night NYE getaway. From the start, we were very impressed with the hospitality. Andre met us outside - took all of our luggage into his apartment - then rode in the car with us to best direct us to the parking lot (right around the corner). As we entered... More

My partner and I came from Florida to experience the culture and history of Montreal. Sir Montcalm provided a friendly and relaxing home during our visit. We were able to walk less than a block to the restaurants and night life on Ste Catherine, which is very lively during the summer months. We were also able to easily access the... More

At a bed and breakfast the most important thing is the staff and service. That is why is love this place. After I discovered it I have never stayed anywhere else. Add to that the fact that the rooms and social area are top notch and the wonderful accessible garden (in the summer) you get the perfect getaway. The staff... More

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Sir Montcalm! The location is absolutely perfect - just a few steps from rue Ste. Catherine in the center of Le Village (but far enough up rue Montcalm that the noise of the nightlife fades away). The B&B is also just steps from the Beaudry metro station, making it super easy to... More

We just spent 3 great days at Sir Montcalm and were sad to leave. André and Yvon are fantastic hosts who make you feel right at home. The breakfasts were spectacular and we looked forward to our morning chats with wonderful Jean who looked after us during the meals. We stayed in room 1 which is one of the smaller... More

Stayed in room #1. The rooms are very clean, modern and well maintained. Just steps away from Sainte Catherine. The host was very helpful and friendly, he recommended places to go and restaurants to try. I would definitely return!

We just arrived home after a wonderful visit to Sir Montcalm. Our room was quiet, clean, sexy, and just what we needed for a short get away. Andre and everyone was very helpful whenever and we had a question. The breakfast in the morning was fantastic. The location of the B & B was right in the middle of the village.... More

My husband, Brian and I stayed at the most wonderful bed and breakfast ever… "SIR MONTCALM" run by Yvon Jussaume and Andre Bergeron in the village area of Montreal had the perfect blend of comfort, style, friendliness, and good taste! We stayed during Montreal's prestigious Jazz Festival time… and it is only 13 and half blocks walking distance or 3... More

I stayed for 4 nights recently. The room was very clean and up to date. The location is great, just a few steps to the Village and subway. The owner, Andre, worked hard to make me feel welcome and answer any questions. There is a full cooked breakfast which was different every morning. The wifi worked well. I would recommend... More

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighborhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomized by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
