Stayed here for 3 nights whilst I was attending a festival. Unfortunately I never got to experience the lounge area or the free breakfast (I couldn't bring myself to get up that early each day!). The staff were really friendly and helpful. My friend and I had the double private room. It was alright. Clean, comfortable, basic, had a fridge... More

My husband and I stayed here for five days in early April 2015. We booked through Hostelbookers and I think booked a 'deluxe private', arrived to find our room had a Jacuzzi! Really the room was hotel quality at a hostel price, great value. The breakfast in the morning, which was included, was also delicious, and the 24 hour reception/bar... More

I stayed in this place before it was redone a couple of years ago, and it was good then. Little did I know when I stayed here the second time, a couple of weeks ago, that the place would be totally redone, with free Mac access, a nice choice of private or shared rooms, an amazing staff and overnight manager,... Rated as best hostel in North America in 2012, this hostel has a great atmosphere, but is not too big, nor is it too noisy. Wonderfully friendly staff, a complimentary breakfast each morning, and recent renovations to the common areas.

One of the best hostel I've ever been. Awesome atmosphere and clean. The location was superb as this was close to the bus station and pretty central to everywhere. You have to stay here if you visit Montreal, amazing city!!!

By far the best hostel I've ever stayed at. It seems as if the hostel industry is upgrading it self and I like the direction it is taking. I've always stayed on this street because its close to the metro and easy to get around. The entire strip is littered with small hotels, but this one has to be the... More

This is by far the best hostel I have stayed in. I was in an 8 bed dorm room which was thoroughly cleaned every day, fresh towels every day and friendly staff. the only down side is it would have been nice to have had some fresh fruit included in the breakfast, but the fresh croissants were very good.

Excellent hostel. Hands down the best I've stayed in, especially for the low price. The location is optimal. It's a minute walk from the main metro station Berri-UQAM and just round the corner from the main bus station too. We stayed in the 8 bed dormitory and had a great time. The beds are comfortable, there are lockers, a microwave,... More

Though I only spent one night here, it was one of the best experiences I've had. I was extremely cautious when picking a hostel, as I've heard some horror stories from friends. I had absolutely no reason to worry, though, because Montreal Central is an amazing hostel. My friend and I stayed in the 8 bed mixed dorm. The beds... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
