I've been remiss in not writing this review much earlier. Our Jr. suite was on the 2nd floor walk-up; but we had plenty of help schlepping our luggage. We stayed for 3 weekend nights (on our way to catch a cruise ship in Quebec) and also really enjoyed the excellent Ethiopian Restaurant, Le Nil Bleu on the ground floor. The... More

We've stayed at Kutuma a few times now. We love the location on Plateau Mont-Royal, the proximity to good restaurants (including the Ethiopian restaurant at the hotel!) and subway station. The junior suite features a living area and small kitchenette. The beds are just OK and the mattresses tend to sag in the middle.

My wife and I headed to Montreal for our Columbus Day holiday and Canada's Thanksgiving Day holiday. Most hotels were booked and we need a king size bed so Hotel Kutuma was one of a few hotels we could choose from. We're glad we did. The hotel/restaurant has an African theme with leopard print in the rugs, pillows, sheets, and... More

We stayed here one night and it was not a nice experience. This is a tiny lodging facility with almost no front desk, no security and no elevator. My room is on the third floor. I have to carry my luggages and bags, climbing up the stairs. Twice I almost tripped off the stairs. The room is dark, black and... More

"Um, can we move in?" This thought occurred to us for the entire 3 night stay that we booked for our mini-moon. Why stay in a soulless hotel in tourist- or nowheres-ville when Kutuma offers super comfy, spacious rooms in a central location for excellent value?! BED: Memory foam pillows and bed topper. Nice, heavy comforter and cozy throw blanket.... More

We stay here whenever we come to Montreal. It is in a great location on rue St-Denis, with plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby. A metro station is not far. The rooms are spacious with a large comfortable bed, a kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), and a large tub and shower in the bathroom. Staff are all friendly and helpful.There... More

Cannot say enough good things about this hotel. Not only were our suites beautiful and immaculate but the staff could not have been nicer or more helpful (especially Matthew). Located right on trendy St-Denis near Plateau district and also near metro stop, st-Louis square and top-notch bakery! Our friends were celebrating their 25th anniversary and loved all the special touches... More

We recently stayed here for 3 nights while on a vacation in Montreal with our son and daughter in law! The location is right in the middle of great restaurants and bars. It is a little distance from Old Town but we did walk it a few times and used Uber to get around some of the time. The service... More

This is a very nice hotel with perfect location and wonderfull staff. The room is very nice and large. Really fancy and elegant. It is located in the same house as a restaurant. They offer valet parking. The area is not in the Town center, it is Walking distance. But the area is very nice with small narrow streets and... More

The good: Staff (friendly and helpful), location (surrounded by restaurants, nor far from old town and port etc), restaurant (refer separate review), room amenities. The not so good: fire escape balcony where neighbours sat immediately outside our room window so most of the time in our room we had to have the curtains closed and as a result the room... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
