On a recent vacation to NH, we decided to swing up to Montreal for an overnight stay and a quick snapshot experience of this charming French Canadian city. We booked a last minute reservation on a Friday night at the University Bed and Breakfast for Saturday night only. We informed the receptionist that we would arrive later, probably past ten... More

great location and walkable to everything. Large park a couple of blocks away, underground malls. White room, very comfortable. Very good breakfast, lots of options, staff is lovely and helpful. Very friendly. This was a return visit...enjoyed it so much the first time it was worth a return stay on our travel to Montreal. Certainly a value, good price.

We stayed here for a mid week overnight for a special event in Montreal. The location was perfect and if it wasn't pouring rain we would have walked to our venue! The room was beautifully decorated. The only downside was the dedicated washroom was across the hall. While we couldn't stay for the breakfast it looked liked there was a... More

Breakfast was lovely with many options to choose from. Delicious too! Cozy room with nice interior. A little uncomfortable with 'private bathroom' located outside of the Queen's Room. Too close to King's Room as basically you could hear what they are doing, talking about and which channel they are watching.

We stayed 3 nights in the brick room. Very comfortable (especially the bed) with everything you need - flat screen TV, telephone, en suite, hairdryer and a small kitchen with oven, microwave, toaster fridge etc. Fabulously clean and full of character. The breakfasts are amazing. Situated on a quiet street close to the university. Plenty of restaurants near by. The... More

We stayed in the White Suite for two nights. The location is good because it's an easy walk to a variety of neighbourhoods right on the edge of Mount Royal. The suite was great - a comfortable bed and a nice living room to relax in. The location is right in the McGill Ghetto, so the noise level from university... More

We recently visited Montreal and stayed at the University Bed and Breakfast and were allocated the Greystone Suite. Located on a quiet street, the B&B is just a stone's throw away from McGill University and close to the city center. The room was quiet and the beds very comfy. Breakfast was very good. One little downsize to take into account:... More

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at our B&B. The property was originally built in the 1800s and is officially recognized as an historic building. Because we do not have an elevator service, guests are welcome to request one of our ground-level suites when they book with us. Booking directly via our website can also offer special discounts... This inn definitely added to our great stay in Montreal! We stayed in the Greystone suite, which was perfect for us; we have a 1 year old with us, and it was plenty big for him to crawl around... plus we could put him to bed while we had some spirits! Having a fridge, stove & coffee was great, and... More

Thank you for reviewing your stay with us! I'm glad that our breakfast exceeded your expectations as a continental breakfast. We try to have a variety of options, including Montreal's famous "St-Viateur" bagels. Once in a blue moon, our breakfast servers Yesim and Rose show off their culinary talents and bake treats from scratch that are served with the other... More

My wife and I visiting visited Montreal recently and wanted to explore the city. This B&B was the perfect spot to do just that. We were able to walk to so many areas of the city. The B&B itself was equally wonderful. The staff were all so friendly and accommodating. Loved the whole experience.

Hi Adam K, Thank you for your kind words. We believe our location is truly ideal because it's close not only to downtown Montreal's shopping district (including the vast "underground city" of shopping complexes accessible via McGill Metro Station) but so many other landmarks as well, such as McGill University and Mount Royal. If you decide to visit Montreal again,... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
