Aug.2014 I convinced my better-half to spend a night here as we arrived a night earlier than our planned check-in at our planned hotel. We came from Toronto for Raggaefest. It was POISON. The place smells like an over-flooded toilet. We had to pay extra for a bathroom IN our room. It was GROSS but after arrivING in Montreal at... More

Where to begin... A group of six of us booked two rooms using Booking.com (also a mistake, although that's a discussion for another day) with the understanding that the price would be higher than usual due to it being a very busy weekend. When we arrived, the first thing that happened is we were "greeted" in the lobby by a... More

Terrible terrible terrible experience!!!! Room was dirty, narrow and shabby. Smells funny in the entire hotel (and later I understood why!!!!!). Disturbing noises coming from the tubes in the room. After 2 am, crazy people came back from their party and were shouting for another two hours. I even smelled marijuana and some other funny smells that made me really... More

Very poor value for money. Rude management. Stinky premise. A complete waste of my money when I can get much better value with just a little extra money staying somewhere else. Also, please watch out for this hotel's booking policy. They will clean you out if you book and decide to cancel afterwards even if you book late or less... More

Hairs between the sheets, no doorknob on the bathroom door, no light switch in the room (had to use the little metal piece that was sticking out of the place where the switch should have been), dirty shower and sink. We were so disgusted, we thought of sleeping with our clothes on before decinding on leaving right away. We advised... More

After taxes I payed 71 bucks for probably one of the best rooms in the house. It was on the top floor in the corner of the building facing the street with 2 nicely sized windows and a good view. It had its own bathroom and shower which was a huge plus, a queen size bed which was hard as... More

AVOID THIS "hostel". It's nightmare. Be prepared to pay 15-20 $ more than the "advertised price because of "key fees" and "taxes". The staff are rude/unfriendly 2) The rooms ARE AWFUL. THEY SMELL LIKE A COMBINATION OF STALE TOBACCO, MARIJUANA, and BODY ODOR. Poorly painted, hot, musty, and there is no attempt at upkeep. The showers and bathrooms were disgusting... More

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighborhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomized by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
