Very poor value for money. Rude management. Stinky premise. A complete waste of my money when I can get much better value with just a little extra money staying somewhere else. Also, please watch out for this hotel's booking policy. They will clean you out if you book and decide to cancel afterwards even if you book late or less... More

Hairs between the sheets, no doorknob on the bathroom door, no light switch in the room (had to use the little metal piece that was sticking out of the place where the switch should have been), dirty shower and sink. We were so disgusted, we thought of sleeping with our clothes on before decinding on leaving right away. We advised... More

After taxes I payed 71 bucks for probably one of the best rooms in the house. It was on the top floor in the corner of the building facing the street with 2 nicely sized windows and a good view. It had its own bathroom and shower which was a huge plus, a queen size bed which was hard as... More

Terrible. I've stayed there last weekend and all the reviews are accurate, exept I didnt see bed bugs in my bed. I had reserved a guaranteed two double bed but ended up with one double. This hotel used to be called Eureka last year. They will loose your reservation then they charge more if you dont pay cash even if you... More

AVOID THIS "hostel". It's nightmare. Be prepared to pay 15-20 $ more than the "advertised price because of "key fees" and "taxes". The staff are rude/unfriendly 2) The rooms ARE AWFUL. THEY SMELL LIKE A COMBINATION OF STALE TOBACCO, MARIJUANA, and BODY ODOR. Poorly painted, hot, musty, and there is no attempt at upkeep. The showers and bathrooms were disgusting... More

I stayed here over the F1 weekend, basically because I couldn't find anywhere else to stay. Before I arrived I was a little worried based on the other reviews here, however it was not as bad as it's been portrayed. If you want somewhere with a bed & a shower for a reasonable price, then go for it. I stayed... More

Go to Hotel La Residence Voyageur instead - a world of difference for just a few extra dollars per night - amazing service and very clean dwelling. Unsanitary and poor value; Terrible management: I have stayed at Hotel Eureka 3 times in the past because of it's low price, with mixed feelings. But, after my most recent trip to Montreal... More

Absolutely the worst dump I've ever stayed in, and that includes hotels and hostels in dozens of countries on five continents. Even a $2 per night hostel in Malaysia was better. Much better. I paid for a week and left after three days, don't know how I lasted that long. The heater worked the first night (in January) but not... More

I booked this "hotel" at the last minute for New Year's weekend. I was aware that it didn't get the best reviews, but I was cautiously optimistic. Anyway, it did meet my expectations. The only positive thing I can say about Hotel Eureka is the location: it is close to the bus stop, to metro stops, Gay Village /St. Catherine... More

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighborhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomized by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
