The room was not like what you see in the picture. It was so small, you could hardly walk around the bed. Our room looks more like it was built around some unused space. The ventilation was so weak - don't expect to come home to a nice cool hotel room after a day of touring Montreal in summer heat.... More

My fiancé and I booked 2 nights in July for a wedding, after finding out most of our friends and family were too far we decided to cancel and book closer to them. Didn't happen! Cannot cancel if room is discounted!!? After trying to talk to a rude receptionist , she hung up on me twice and my daughter once... More

This guest asked to have his two night reservation cancelled, so in spite of our 'no refund/cancellation' policy, we complied with his wishes and agreed to apply his paid deposit to a future stay. He then changed his mind and asked to cancel his cancellation and keep the room. Again, we complied. As for our booking and refund policies, they... More

We booked for 2 nights in a panic via Quebec tourism upon learning our first night was the same day as the Montreal Grand Prix and we were lucky to grab it. We were also told we'd get the best rates possible. Not so. The rate was just off rack rate; for example we could have had the same room... More

I always check TripAdvisor before booking hotels and I really debated coming to this location. The reviews seemed to be mixed. However, that helped level set me for visit. I knew for example I would need to bring my luggage up stairs and indeed there were several flights in a winding stair well to get up to our room on... More

We recently stayed for three nights in May 2015 at this hotel and found it to be clean, comfortable, excellent location, we had dinner one night and breakfast three times and the food was good and reasonably priced, friendly helpful staff and it is run by the owners. It is an old traditional hotel so the rooms are small but... More

* It's good value for the money- i would stay there for a 3rd time * Staff more helpful in-person than on the phone * The first time i stayed back in 2014, I booked with Hotels.com and when i got there the room was sooo tiny and would not fit 2 people comfortably, especially with one being over 6ft.... It actually looked pretty nice from the outside, centrally located in the old Montreal... It took us almost 30 minutes to do a check in...unacceptable!!! and we were the only one there.... The personnel was rude, they have no idea on how to deal with customers, unbelievable! The price was cheap, but when we got into the room....that was the... More

Great value for the money. Good location at edge of Old Montreal, with city parking garage two blocks away. I was not able to park in the morning in the garage, but did get in after 3 p.m. Friendly staff, clean, secure. Note other review comments on wifi. My room, while clean, neat and small, did slant 3 to 4... More

I really enjoyed my stay. The staff is friendly & helpful. The room was small, but I just slept & bathed there. It was clean & nice. It has a great location. Very secure. Wifi is only available in the lobby, & I went down in the evening when I needed to use it. I got a great deal on... More

This charming little hotel is like staying with family. The staff and owners are very welcoming and helpful. You will be in the middle of the old port, and a walking distance from downtown Montreal. The place is clean and the homemade food was delicious!! Make sure you try their shishkabob and grilled chicken! This was definitely a great deal... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
