Good location just near the main shopping streets with lots of cafes and restaurants. Two grocery stores a few blocks away, which was nice. Facilities were ok, but the wifi only worked occasionally and the doors couldn't be locked from the outside. Some of our stuff got stolen from the room and the staff made inspections to the rooms without... More

Hi Vkiilune, Thank you for your response. We deeply regret that you had a less than adequate experience with us. Regarding the staff entering the room without knocking, the staff do not come into the rooms unless it is for work related tasks. After 11am there are a lot of beds to be made, rooms to be cleaned and given... More

Stayed here with three friends. We were supposed to be in a 10 person room but got upgraded for free to a 4 person. Nice room with very comfortable bunkbeds and could control temperature ourselves. Lockers in the room. Breakfast is just toast and tea/coffee. Very clean, lovely converted old house. Great location, lots of bars and restaurants nearby, short... More

One night iI had no plans & I really wanted to go out & see the nightlife in Montreal, the manager of the Hostel organized a pub crawl! Loved partying with the staff! Thank you Ben & Mikael for the... More

Staying one night at this location - still in hostel. Love the old design of the building. It is in the heart of downtown which you can find everything near by - great restaurants and attractions. For the people who are eating halal food - I think this place will be the best choice, you will find al-taieb restaurant and... More

We stayed in a private room in this hostel (second hostel we stayed in in Montreal) in January 2015. We chose the hostel because of its convenient location in the downtown and the fact that it was in a cool historic building, and we were not disappointed on that front at all. The hostel is in a beautiful building from... More

Dear Lexi, Thank you for taking the time to review our hostel. Please keep in mind that we take your opinions seriously; and at the same time, apologize for not meeting your expectations. Internet: During the course of your stay (at our hostel) the neighborhood experienced a power outage due to the snow storm. This situation was outside our control... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at Auberge Bishop over the Christmas Holidays. We reserved a private room located on the third floor walkup. The room was decently spaced, had a nice sized bed and was very warm (very warm!! i.e: the outside temperature was 6 degrees celsius and our room was 30 degrees celsius). We had options to several shared... More

I stayed here for a week, and it was very nice. Close to the subway and in a good neighborhood, not far away from downtown. A large TV room and confortable sofas, the dining area in a small adjoined area (no space problem, maybe if everybody rush there at the same time). The breakfast was coffee, juice, toast, jam, butter,... More

great location, helpful staff, affordable price. clean and comfy. We stayed in a 4 bed dorm, though it was a bit small, but the rest of it was nice. The laundry facilities were 1 dollar for the washer and 1 dollar for the dryer. The shower room was very clean, and big enough space.

Auberge Bishop is located very close to the Rue St. Catherine in Montreal were all the pubs, restaurants and stores are located. I arrived and checked in on a Saturday afternoon. When I arrived to Montreal, Auberge Bishop wasn't my first choice but what really convinced me was its great location...it's pretty close to train station, subaway station all kind of shops and bars and pubs. It's a cozy and clean place. The bathrooms were clean enough. The staff is awesome...In my case it was convenient that one of them speak... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
