I've spent a lot of time in Montreal for both work and pleasure. I found a great weekend deal on a room through the SPG site and decided to roll the dice. I knew the lobby would be under renovation leading the the cheap rate. The Deluxe King room was of ample size had new fixtures and furnishings. The television... More

I collect frequent sleeper miles at the Sheraton chain (Four Points, W, Le Meridien, Aloft, Westin, Sheraton), and Le Meridien Versailles in Montreal has been my choice for several years, since the Four Points was sold off to McGill University to be a dorm. At a recent visit, I happily discovered they'd reconfigured and refurbished some rooms, and I no... More

The location is really good. Not too far from the action, and not to busy in the center. They are very pet friendly, and there is a wonderful dog park about 5 mins walk away. It was my birthday and there was a little accident (not the hotel's fault) in which bricks from the building next door fell and blocked... More

We spent one night at Le Meridien Versailles this past week and had a positive experience. The staff was welcoming and efficient and gave us a room upgrade when we arrived. The property is older but the room we stayed in was large and nicely decorated in a modern style. The king size bed was comfortable, the room had a... More

Couldn't have been happier with the trendy decor and boutique feel. Nice change from the boring typical rooms. The room is a bit small but feels cozy rather than restrictive. The bed, sheets, and pillows are super comfortable. The hotel is just down the road from the musee de beaux arts and the Ritzso the shops are buildings are particularly... More

Pros: Good location, very close to Station Guy Concordia. The room was large and very quiet, we got a better room for having SPG status. The staff were friendly and nice, responded quickly and positively to any requests. Cons: The room looks nice on the surface, but leaves a lot left to be desired. The heating system was very LOUD... Hotel is in the midst of renos, but they weren't disruptive by any means. Parking is valet only, but reasonably priced for valet parking at a hotel in a city's downtown. Staff are very friendly and easy to get along with.

* Must have been renovated recently as it was very different when I came 3 years ago. Now the room is very modern, clean and bright. * They installed brand new heater in the room which produces ZERO noise unlike many other dated heaters in those typical 3-star or 4-star hotels. Trust me, newer is always good. * Some rooms... More

Even though Sherbrooke is a major thoroughfare, things are quieter up here on the side of the hill. The hotel is in an older building, blending in more with the local apartment buildings than the historical buildings. Everything about this hotel is small, and that's okay (except one thing). Lobby staff are friendly, elevators functional and the hallways on the... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
