For the money, surely a traveller can do better. It is true that this studio hotel is well located, but this hardly makes up for the street noise, poorly equipped room, tired bathroom, lumpy pillow and squeaky bed. The room was clean enough, but there were no bath towels (some were brought up quickly); our breakfast involved sad croissants and... More

This hotel is perfect for what it is! It's a cute little walk-up, almost as if you had your own apartment in the hip and trendy Plateau neighborhood of Montreal. The rooms are clean, there is plenty of space, and the kitchenette is quite convenient. The croissant left on the door every morning was nothing too spectacular but it was... More

Access is a very steep set of stairs from the street, not easy with a lot of luggage. Room was quite small & right in the front so noise from the street was a problem as well as the Jazz club below. Staff were very helpful & knowledgeable about the area, Metro was not too far away & plenty of... More

This is one of those tricky reviews. This is not a five star accommodation (a Grand Hotel)..or a 4 star (a Westin)...or really a 3 star (a Holiday Inn) -it is more like a European hotel - a converted walk-up with small rooms and very homey with a touch of atmosphere and nice people. My room was a single on... More

The people are so fabulous - I left a pair of earrings there months ago. Today when I was leaving, the woman at the desk told me she had something of mine...she had found them after my last visit, had called my office but no one followed up (??) so had been keeping in the safe a beautiful pair of... It's true, you'll need to climb a steep set of stairs to reach the hotel in this traditional Montreal walk-up, but once you drag your luggage up, you'll be greeted by a friendly host or hostess. There was always someone on duty every time we walked in. They are great resources for ideas of places to go, but more importantly,... More

Do not stay here if you don't enjoy climbing steep stairs or you have more than light luggage. This hotel pretends to be a boutique hotel, but is a modest, adequate two star with a Murphy bed with a thin foam mattress, and tattered shower curtain. The staff is fine and excellent warm croissants on your door in the morning... More

I stayed in that hotel 4 nights in last September. Tne first 2 nights were in a room on the first floor, on the street side. very small, and very noisy. The next 2 nights were in a room on the same floor, but on the garden side: much, much better, quite and spacious, for the same price. Generally speaking,... More

You can only keep a secret secret until it becomes known! This small hotel is one of these secrets. I was greeted as if I was a long time friend, and the service was wonderful- it exceeded my expections in the way of costs, comfort, locaton and service. If you had to relocate to the Plateau Mont-Royal in Montreal, you... More

My biggest mistake not to check pics and review on trip advisory. Booked on hotels.com and they didn't have pics for me to say "NO" to this hotel. Basically it's a 2star hotel and that's says it all. Old smelly stains on the bed sheets and no hot water in the bathroom sink. They really need to renovate this place.... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
