My husband, toddler and I stayed at Hotel Gault for 2 nights this past week. The staff was beyond helpful with all of our bags and parking and our need for a crib..etc. The breakfast there was outstanding! We were very impressed with the size of the room as well. It was great for us and our toddler. The location... More

On arrival we were told that we had been upgraded and were shown to a beautiful room on the top floor. Unfortunately, air conditioning units on a building across the street were just too noisy for us. When we asked for a different room the staff could not have been more accommodating. Not only did they find us a superb... More

We spent 5 nights at the Hotel Gault. The staff was exceptional. Always friendly and very helpful. The room was spacious and had everything we needed. It even has an AC that is not annoying, which I find to be rare. This will definitely be the hotel to stay at when we visit Montreal again

The service at Hotel Gault was some of the best I have ever received. My wife and I stayed here over a weekend on our visit to Montreal, and the staff was always attentive to every one of our needs. We were informed by the concierge that the structure was once a cotton factory that was later converted to a... More

Spent a week touring Canada. Happened across a great price for the Hotel Gault. The parking was a bit pricing. Was told valet parking was $35 but there was a $40 charge on my bill. The room was very large, black out drapes. Great walk in shower. The only thing I missed was a coffee maker in the room and... More

After a long drive from Bennington, VT we slipped in to the Hotel Gault on waterwashed streets after an afternoon downpour and stressful traffic. But our concerns were immediately swept away by the friendly greeting and excellent service of the hotel staff. We were upgraded to room 510 on the top floor of this remodelled classic; a suite with a... More

The Gault met and exceeded our expectations. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed with quality amenities. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were so good that we never managed to get out to any other breakfast spot. The coffee was fantastic. Room service was very quick and the food and coffee arrived hot. The hotel is... But only if your hipster friend was extraordinarily rich, had exquisite taste, and totally respected your privacy. I stayed at the Hotel Gault while in Montreal on business, on the recommendation of a friend and associate. He'd heard good things... for very good reason. The Gault is on the edge of Old Montreal and a short walk from the Old... More

Exceptional service, well-designed rooms and spontaneous touches of refinement are the hallmarks of the Hotel Gault. Located close to great restaurants and the historic sights of Old Montreal, it is also well within walking distance of downtown shopping and summer festival venues. Valet parking is quite pricey, but not out-of-line for the neighbourhood.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
