A friend and I stayed here for three days, and we were very happy with the overall quality of the accommodations. Our beds were clean, comfortable, and had blankets and pillows that were actually useable. The showers, while very small, had decent pressure and were warm. We didn't make use of the free breakfast, but it looked like standard fare... More

An old, very charming house. Clean and cosy. Comfortable beds, very nice breakfast, veranda for smokers on each floor and a great terrasse on the roof. It is situated in a rather peaceful part of town, close to train/bus stations, harbour, chinatown, Mount Royal, musees and shopping areas.

The staff is absolutely great, very kind and expert about the city and it's attractions, Celine in particular will really help you to have a great experience in Montreal. The hostel is clean and nice, in a quiet and safe location. Position is 25 min by walk to the center or less then 10 min for the subway. The weak... More

A great experience at La Gite. All the staff were beyond helpful and friendly. The common area and kitche were bright and clean and a delight to hang out in. No wait showers/bathrooms and a fab rooftop to hang out on. The location was perfect, walking distance to the Old Port and as well as to all the cool places... More

I was quite happy with this place, all told. It was quiet for being on a Main Street - the noise I heard at night was from Sherbrooke, not in the building. Very clean - beds made when we came in, and towels were given to us upon arrival. Bathrooms were clean if a bit hot, but it was also... More

I stayed a few days in Le Gite to explore Montreal. There was a lot to brag about here... The staff were awesome! They gave me personal suggestions for things to see and ways to experience Montreal. The rooms, breakfast and other facilities were exactly what I needed to have a comfortable stay. Also, the people there were all very... More

We stayed here for a week. This is a standard hostel (the term gite is used loosely in Quebec) in a great location. The front desk staff is very friendly. Breakfast is included, which is pancakes and toast and juice yogurt, but there is a fridge for guests so you can easily supplement with more healthy choices if you get... More

Great hostel, met people to go out with. Clean rooms, nice balcony, cool at night, friendly staff. Good wifi, they have a computer and printer which is good for tickets/flights etc. 5 mins from bars + restaurants, right near the metro and bus station. Only thing that annoyed me was the creaky floorboards, if you're a light sleeper it may... More

This place is great! The location was pretty good, near the main attractions and nightlife. The rooms were both cosy and clean and had comfortable beds. The breakfast was great (pancakes). Also the rooftop terrace is a lovely place to hangout. The staff and management were fantastic. I'd go as far as saying Jonathan (aka mrjon009) deserves a raise!

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
