Wow! Our first time in Montreal and we absolutely picked the perfect place to stay. Location was fantastic and easy walking distance to all the main attractions in Old Montreal. The room was well appointed and stylish. The most impressive feature was the staff - every one was an absolute professional! In particular, we spoke with Natalie who was the... More

We stayed 2 nights in mid-April, 2015. The service was impeccable, with young, friendly staff who were very responsive to any questions we had. We're a low maintenance couple, so didn't make a lot of demands, but we could see other clients being helped with reservations, directions and the like. The room was comfortable, not huge but plenty of room.... More

Beautiful hotel very comfortable we enjoyed our stayed very very much. But I did find it overly pricy... We ordered coffee for 2 late at night. Ended up paying 10$ + 3$ For room service + tax + trip all this for a pot of instant coffee!!! Wish they had hospitality tray in the room. Nice staff clean and bed... More

The Nelligan is my go to place to stay when coming to Montreal for Business. The staff is always friendly, the rooms amazing and the rooftop terrace is great! My only concern is taxi service. It can take a bit of time to get one so we tried the Uber service today and were scolded by the doorman. I found... More

My husband and I travel quite a bit in Europe and the U.S. This hotel is our absolute favorite! It is a charming small boutique hotel with great amenities. The location in Montreal's old city is terrific. It is about a block from our favorite museum Pointe a Calliere, which almost always has at least one great temporary exhibit. The... More

My stay here at Hotel Nelligan was exceptional. Sonia and Maude at the front desk were very accommodating, and resourceful. My room was impeccable. There was a welcome basket full of local sweets and a weather report for that day awaiting for me. The location was situated in close proximity to Notre Dame. Below, there were great restaurants including: Verses... More

This hotel is beautiful. My husband and I usually stay at cute little bed & breakfasts so this was more upscale than what we're used to. It's in a prime location within walking distance to everything; restaurants, shopping, and all the sites. The staff is very accommodating. The concierge will help you set up anything you want. It's worth paying... More

Dear Madame Marianne Pen, Thank you for your positive comments on your visit in August 2014. We are happy to read that you enjoyed your experience with Le Nelligan and hope to see you again. With regards to the terrace, as you know, Montreal's good weather is quite short. Unfortunately, the rooftop is opened to the public. Best regards, Daisy More

Coco Chanel said, "Luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury." Well, you get this and more at the boutique hotel, Hotel Nelligan in the old town of Montreal. Exposed brick walls and extremely spacious rooms with spacious washrooms made me feel as though I was in Europe. The room and my surroundings were so pleasant that I actually... More

Spent the Easter Weekend at this unique boutique hotel in Old Montreal. The room was beautiful, the service friendly and helpful, and the location perfect as it is close to the water, entertainment and numerous restaurants and bars. Being one of few words, I strongly recommend The Nelligan for your next visit to Montreal.

A lovely hotel in the loveliest part of Old Montreal. Surrounded by great shops and restaurants, close walking distance to so many wonderful attractions and sights to see. The staff are all amazing and friendly and so helpful. The woman who checked us in gave us great directions to guide our afternoon walk and a fantastic lunch recommendation, not to... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
