This is a relatively small low rise hotel located in the Old Town near to the St Lawrence river. We stayed in a Petite Suite for two nights prior to a cruise. Room was spacious, with a very high ceiling, probably because hotel is a converted old shoe factory, 150 years old according to the doorman. The hotel location is... More

Spent 2 nights at the Hotel Nelligan this past weekend. Very nice, clean and well located in the fabulous Old Montreal area. Our room was situated on the 5th floor and was very quiet considering the hotel was very busy. Rooftop bar was amazing. Enjoyed some great food and drinks up there. Staff at reception very helpful. All in all,... More

We enjoyed this hotel very much, with one big exception. It's location is excellent, right in the heart of Vieux Montreal. The room was spacious (we had upgraded), although our view was of a building next door to us - about 50 feet away, so no view of anything. The lobby is nice, as is the hotel bar on the... More

We stayed here over a long weekend while in town to watch 2 hockey games. The hotel concierge actually found the tickets to the games for us, which was super! I think our room is identical to the photo on the Tripadvisor page with the reviews. It was large, with a sofa and a few big chairs. The bed was... More

The rooms are very comfortable, well appointed and quite stylish. The staff is extraordinarily helpful and friendly. We stayed Wednesday through Saturday and could not have picked a better location for all the things we wanted to see and do.

Small boutique hotel in the heart of old Montreal. Unassuming front, but with great staff and beautiful rooms. Lobby lounge nice and quiet. Everyone is up on 5th floor roof top patio bar and casual restaurant. Great views and great drinks. Try the white sangria. We would definitely return.

My wife and I stayed here while passing through Montreal on our honeymoon. The service was too notch, the room was larger than we expected, and the restaurant in the hotel was delightful. I will definitely recommend it to our friends and we will stay here the next the time we're in Montreal!

We rented the 1 bedroom Penthouse for our small and intimate wedding of 36 people. We were able to utilize the beautiful out door space and enjoyed our vows over looking Notre Dam and the Old Port. Decor was perfect, staff were very accomidating. We loved our special day! Photos around the hotel were equally amazing!

My husband and I stayed in this hotel and we could not have been more pleased! It was in a wonderful location in Old Montreal where you can easily walk to many things. The hotel was beautiful, clean, comfortable, charming and friendly. Exactly what we were looking for. I spent a fair amount of time deciding on a hotel in... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
