This was a truly amazing hotel! It is in a beautiful old building with character that was faithfully honoured and embraced with the creation of the hotel. The room was large and comfortable. High ceiling and brick wall added to the stateliness of the place. The bed and bedding led to an amazing sleep. We didn't feel like we were... More

I would recommend this hotel to anyone and can't imagine a better choice for a first-time visitor to Montreal. The location is within a quick walk to many shops, restaurants, bars and points of interest. The hotel itself is extremely nice as are its amenities. It's the people who work here, however, that make this place truly special. The staff... More

The hotel is small but charming with a real warmth about it from everything from the decor to the reception you receive from the staff. The food in the restaurant is quite good and the chef is very accommodating. My last stay was June, 2015. I arrived in my room to the soft sounds of jazz and hand dipped chocolate... More

Staff were amazing! Very friendly, pleasant and helpful. Excellent location, wonderful facility with attention to detail, beautifully (but simply) decorated. That's why we came back again. They take care of the place! Exposed Brick. Clean. Great Rooms. Great Bathrooms.

My colleague booked hotel rooms for a business trip to Montreal. We wanted to be in the old par of the City and in a smaller more unique hotel. This one hit the spot. The welcome was warm and the lobby was comfortable and warm on a cold winter day. My colleague preferred a room in the back and I... More

This hotel is owned by the same people that operate Place d'Arms just up the street. Their philosophy is excellence in service and property. From the time you arrive until departure you'll not be disappointed. The rooms are warm and cozy especially the rooms with brick on the walls. The food in the restaurant is very good too.

Two couples just spent two nights at the Hotel Nelligan and it was great. This hotel is a delight. In the old quarter on Rue St. Paul. It's just a block from Notre Dame. The location is charming and the hotel is surprisingly quiet. Street noise was not heard and neither was interior noise. The physical pleasures of this hotel... More

All around a great experience. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The quality of the room is great, clean and in a great location. The street side can be a little noisy, so i recommend asking for a room on the east side where you might get a view.

I stayed here with a group of six guys for a bachelor party. From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful (and tolerant of a bunch of dudes). The rooms are perfectly sized, and the beds are very comfortable. The showers, towels and robes are not quite five star level, but everything else about the rooms... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
