I received a free night at the Sofitel for my birthday, so I was eager to check this hotel out. I'd read great reviews and heard good things about this place and for the most part, it was valid. For starters, it's in a great location. On Sherbrooke St and the "Golden Mile", it gave me easy access to a... More

This hotel is beautiful... My family and I have stayed here for 3 years when we make our yearly visit here. The service is great. The rooms are exceptional and the views are spectacular. The sheets are always clean and the room service is nice. The staff is always welcoming and willing to do anything to make your stay more... More

I planned a nice weekend in Montreal, back in September and was looking for a great hotel with great reviews, in the city center, and close to all the sights. The sofitel Montreal is a beautiful hotel, with high quality rooms, smaller sized rooms but definitely every effort was made to feel premium. The bathroom was spacious, we stayed two... More

I stayed here for 4 nights in May for a long weekend, whistle stop in Montreal. The location is great just a couple of blocks from downtown St. Catherine's street. The lobby is small enough and a little unimpressive but the bedrooms are lovely. The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed i have ever slept in. It was amazing.... More

Great location at the foot of Mt. Royal and adjacent to McGill University. This hotel is well appointed and the staff were all very courteous. Breakfast in the hotel restaurant was delicious, decadent and reasonably priced, a highlight of the stay. Room was a bit small and need a bit of a refresh. Overall solid hotel, would definitely visit again.

Stayed at the Sofitel Montreal for 2 days. Short trip. The photos of their rooms look modern and the location is reasonable. Did not expect much since I did not need to spend more money to stay at one of those really cute and quaint boutique hotels near the Old Port. Never expected that the room was not cleaned at... Stayed here for five days, business trip, including weekend. Located well for nightlife and business districts. Looks a bit dated from the outside but inside of good finish. Helpful concierge and taxi service. Breakfast Buffet is a little limited but of good quality and evening dinner is fantastic, good chef. Summer terrace is great for a few drinks, food and... More

Stayed for 2 nights at Sofitel Montreal and did not want to leave! The room (corner room with 2 extended windows) is well designed and spacious and was very well kept. A work desk is large with many power outlets for all your gadgets. Free WiFi was fast and more than adequate for general browsing purposes. A Bose radio is... More

I stayed about 10 nights in this hotel, well located on business and university part of Montreal. Mitigate feeling, polite staff, modern style, big enough rooms, clean...and beside so'e issues. Very noisy hall as in train station, custommers are charged automatically after one week, maybe no trust on us, which cost twice bank charges instead of once for all stay,... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
