We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful hotel. We loved everything about it,from the bottled water in the room to the infused water and coffee in the lobby. The staff was friendly and helpful. We loved all the artwork in the lobby, hallway and in our room. The view from our window was picturesque. The gluten free bakery next... More

Recently stayed with 4 other friends at the L for 5 nights during Jazz Fest. Can't say enough great things about this hotel! I had stayed previously at the property 3 other times, but this was my first visit since it became L'Hotel.....was originally the 19th Century Hotel. Owner Georges Marciano (yes, THAT Georges Marciano) has done many upgrades and... More

We loved. L'Hotel. Our room was king size and I mean that literally - the ceilings must be 15 feet high with full length beautiful red drapes and dark red walls. Huge bed with masses of lovely pillows, and the bathroom was enormous. (The bath was six feet long and two feet deep and blissful to soak the weary bones... More

I have no problem recommending this hotel, its sophisticated, comfortable and not irritatingly 'uber cool' like some boutique hotels. They have an interesting and valuable art collection and make you sign a document to say you won't try to steal one. I managed to resist, if only because my suitcase was too small. The service is friendly, the breakfast modest... More

Stayed for three nights. It's not a brand-new hotel, but it has wonderful charm and the staff makes it feel like a 4-star. The bed was very comfortable, and there is a bar on-site with small appetizers available. You can walk to all of the good restaurants in old-town, including the vieux port area. For nightlife, go to Joverse (after... More

We loved our stay at this beautiful old town property. Staff was warm and competent, not at all stuffy. Our room was a high-ceilinged bastion of good design, original art, fabulous bedding, and top-notch amenities. The location can't be beat. Do yourself a favor and book now.

LHotel is a small hotel with a big personality. Staying here is like being the guest of an eccentric friend who has amazing taste in art and interior design. The staff was wonderfully helpful and friendly. Our room (212) had bold red walls, a 20-foot ceiling, a luxurious king bed, a couch and two walls of windows. The furnishings were... More

Truly the most unique (and therefore interesting hotel) we have stayed in. In the middle of old Montreal and short walking to attractions and dining. It was also a short distance from the cruise ship we disembarked from at the end of s Saint Lawdence river cruise. The staff was very helpful. And surprisingly young. Yes I would not hesitate... We stayed for 3 nights in this Hotel and found the reception staff to be generally helpful. The entrance with stairs is a problem for bringing in heavy luggage and the lobby area small, especially with a number of guests with luggage checking in or out, We expected the room to be large with high ceilings, as it was, but... Dear Petange, Thank you for your insightful review of LHotel Montreal. We are glad that you found the bed in your room to be comfortable, and that you enjoyed our continental buffet breakfast. The building which LHotel occupies used to be a bank, and unfortunately the indoor architecture can sometimes interfere with hotel life. We understand that the set of... More

Very cool hotel and perfect location. The hotel is located right in Old Montreal and is not too far from the Metra. The staff was very helpful upon our arrival and our check-in was very fast. The hotel is decorated with art throughout the building and really adds a nice charm to it. Our room was very comfortable and decorated... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
