Loved this hotel. Rooms were very nice with various amenities. Staff was friendly, helpful and efficient. Fabulous location as well. Would stay at this hotel again. Close to many attractions and restaurants.

This hotel has really nice bright and clean rooms with comfy beds! (See photo) First of all, be aware that this hotel is a budget hotel and offers lodging. There is no pool, business centre, fitness centre or restaurant. It offers a nice, clean room, clean bathroom and good quality bath amenities. It also includes tea/coffee and bottled water. I... Large room. Odd old former hospital. Good for a lower cost option in Montreal. Good location. Montreal was oddly expensive at the time July 2013, not 2014. Good base. Took trip to Quebec City as well which was fabulous.

Location is ideal for anyone wanting to spend time in downtown Montreal. Walking distance to restaurants, shopping, hospital. About a 15 min walk to Old Montreal/Old Port area. The only thing we probably were not big fans of was the hardwood flooring in the room. There was one elevator and it was extremely small - there was no room left... More

We stayed here for four nights in May. The hotel is old, lots of city noise (garbage truck at 4:00 am). Location is great, you can walk almost everywhere. Great restaurants in the Latin Quarter a few blocks away, shopping close, walk to Notre Dame Basilica and government offices, China Town. Hotel staff (every shift) was great!

We did have higher expectations after reading all the reviews and were a bit shocked. We paid almost 300.00 for two nights with parking, taxes and there fees and it was not worth that. I would say it was a 2 star and nothing more.. The location is a bit dodgy like in the other reviews and we did feel... More

The location is spot on if you want bars and pubs. Honestly, I found the location a little bit dodgy. The hotel doesn’t have air conditioning, nor a fan. The hotel is very basic, although the bed was quite comfortable. The wifi wasn’t working, although the staff was really trying to make it work. Honestly, the cost-benefit of this hotel... More

This was my second stay at the St-Denis. It is a wonderful, comfortable hotel perfect for exploring Montreal. Old Montreal, Chinatown, the Latin Quarter, the Gay Village and Downtown are within walking distance. A large variety of restaurants are within a three or four block walk, including vegan options. The 747 bus stop only a block from the hotel making... More

I stayed one night at Hotel St Denis. The cost was just over $90 after the tax was added. I showed up a couple of hours before the check in time. One of the two girls on reception took my credit card info (a deposit in case of damages) and checked me in while the other went to see if... More

The Hotel St-Denis was a bit of a surprise, but in a good way! I found the room to be quite clean, relatively spacious and the front desk people to be quite nice. I got a deal on the room from an online site for about $130CAD all-in for a holiday weekend Friday night. For Montreal, in the Latin Quarter,... More

Staying in Quartier des Spectacles

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theaters, and exhibition centers are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.
