One of the best five boutique hotels it has been my pleasure to visit. My wife and I are experienced international travelers. This hotel has all the charm, all the amenities, and all the service you would want. It's location is perfect right between Old Town Montreal and the business district downtown. We stayed four nights and found it delightful.... More

I stayed at the St-James for 4 days last week. Almost a perfect experience. The hotel is lovely on the inside, very old-world style and furnishings. The staff was excellent in all respects, and I really enjoyed the library/lobby. I got a free upgrade to an executive suite, which was huge and appointed like you would expect: a completely separate... More

What a fabulous, fabulous, fabulous hotel. Terrific location in Old Montreal within close proximity to sites. Beautifully appointed interior offering Molten Brown products. Gracious staff who were willing to exceed your expectations. Perfect in every way! Thank you all!!!

Please note that the St. James Hotel is lovely and practically perfect. The 4 1/2 star rating is due to minor things, most of which the hotel has no control over. The one and only minor issue that I had was the shower! The water temperature went from hot to scalding. No, I didn't bother to report this (I like... More

The staff, including the cleaning crew, were uniformly first rate - attentive, helpful, unobtrusive. The food - breakfast only was excellent, world's best eggs benedict with salmon ? Staff perfect. Room was spacious, extraordinarily quiet (no views to speak of), great shower, great towels, etc. Drawbacks - the wall, including the photo of the smug looking owner (?) over the... More

Just a short walk to the major old Montreal major attractions the St-James is a beautiful old world Hotel. The Lobby, while small, is beautifully appointed and the rooms are modern on the inside but retain their old world charm. A great location and caring staff make this a great Hotel while in Montreal.

Loved this old style hotel with plenty of history . Very well appointed rooms including a great bath for soaking away the travel tiredness and an extensive range of quality toiletry products ( says Jane anyway). All the staff were super helpful especially the concierge who doggedly helped us sort out a messed up helicopter booking . The restaurant xo... More

Decided to avoid the large chain hotel experience and booked this lovely small hotel, just as close but along the outskirts of Old Montreal. Perfect location. Beautifully decorated classic rooms, very large bathroom with huge showers and tubs. We only ate breakfast in the restaurant (slow service, very expensive but tasty), but used the bar area extensively and really enjoyed... More

Wonderful location, clean rooms, heavenly beds/bath, great staff, the WORST restaurant service in Montreal (everywhere else was service perfection), and lacking in some areas important to us: upgraded to a room with view of back of building, no easy device plug-ins, dark rooms, no outdoor sitting access, spotty front door/concierge attendance, slow TV remote. The restaurant was consistently ridiculous, almost... More

Chic hotel in the best location for walking to Old Montreal. We were upgrade to wonder suite which was a nice treat for my birthday. The staff was so friendly. I will stay here again. We enjoyed the Amphi tour on both land and water to get a quick overview of the city. Great lunch in Old Montreal at Les... More
