We hosted our sales meeting at Hotel St. Paul and we could not have had a better experience. Staff was great. Location was fantastic. Easy for people to get around and see the city.

Spent the weekend at Hotel St. Paul on a visit to Montreal and the Jazz Festival over the 4th of July weekend. Our room was stylish, clean and comfortable and the service pleasant and not intrusive. In previous entries some have complained about the dark hallways...this is true, but I found it to be sexy and the rooms themselves are... More

First let's talk about the location. Right across from my favorite brunch place Le Cartet which is a must. Their own restaurant Vauvert has an outside bar where you can enjoy a cocktail in the early evening. The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms have a deep tub perfect for soaking after a day of walking on the cobbled streets.... More

Always the best treatment, the best suite, the best restaurant, and the best Thursday night crowd in the bar!

Beautifully renovated hotel in a very modern stylish manner. Great breakfast buffet, good meeting rooms. Very classy place. Good location. Average rooms are small, but good, with generous bathrooms. Elegant feel. Average price, and a much nicer experience than a standard chain hotel. Hallways are narrow, dark, but the rooms are good.

We stayed Memorial Day weekend and were unexpectedly upgraded to a Jr.Suite (705)--a corner room well above the noise from street and lobby nightclub with a separate sitting area and television. The bathtub was fantastic and the bathrobes were great to curlup in afterward. After a long day walking and biking it was a dream to come back to the... More

Stayed here as part of a business meeting, so I had no choice in the matter. This wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. Not somewhere I'd spend my own personal $ on if I were visiting Montreal as a tourist or for leisure. On the positive side, it is in a wonderful location and the atmosphere surrounding the hotel... Great place, warm atmosphere, modern boutique hotel, wonderful people and service, very nice room (good size, petit salon, comfortable bed). Free internet WIFI with good performance. Location is very convenient as it is in a quiet area and just 10 minutes walk to Saint Catherine Street. Very early wake up call + cab, with everything on time. I will be... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
