The hotel has so much character down to the smallest details. We were thrilled with the location, within walking distance from a variety of Montreal's trendy restaurants. It's a short cab ride from some of the best shopping in Canada! The staff at the hotel are fantastic and ensure that your stay will be memorable! Can't wait to go again!

The room was huge and very comfortable, but could have had wall decorations. The bathroom had a full shower and a bath with a shower. Renovations in the lobby took away from that space, but the staff's friendliness and assistance more than made up for it.

Dear Ward H, We would like to thank you for your kind words about our establishment. We're glad you have enjoyed the size and comfort of your room. As for the decoration, the minimalist style of the hotel is slowly fading away into a more colorful and textured decor with the ongoing renovations. There is more to come in the... More

I leave very few negative reviews, but this hotel is poor. We waited 20 minutes for our room to be checked prior to check in. The room was just dirty. Mud on the floor, dusty everywhere, lipstick on the glasses in the washroom. Everything in this hotel is tired. We were told that they serve breakfast until 11:00am (included in... More

We loved the location in old Montreal. The hotel is beautiful on the outside, and it has an elegant feel. As part of our deal with Travelzoo, we were upgraded to a junior suite, and breakfast was included. The furnishings have a contemporary/industrial feel -- not much color - but the room was spacious for the two of us, with... More

The staff at the Hotel St. Paul made planning our meeting easy and efficient. They were also very patient as I had to make a few changes here and there along the way. I would highly recommend this establishment both for business and/or pleasure.

We had a junior suite which was 1 room divided by a wall. Bed was small. Weird couch/futon. Table in "living area" was so rickety you could not put anything on it. Breakfast was supposed to be included but because renovations were being done ( not told ahead about this) they closed at 10 am on Sunday morning. Wood floor... More

The ''Only You'' package was amazing! Champagne + rose petals around the bed. Very lovely mood. Everything is clean. However, we arrived too late for the plate of charcuterie included in the deal, it was completely our fault; the restaurant was already closed. Fortunately, the staff were kind enough to discount 100$ off the bill next morning when we left.... More

I stayed for the third time at hotel st paul in montreal and am still convinced. Great location for business and leisure alike, close to train station and nice restaurants, bars and art shops in vieux montreal just around the corner. Rooms are spacious and quiet, staff is friendly and pragmatic.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
