The hotel was nice enough. The hallways are very dark with red lighting which was a bit odd but the rooms are bright. Location is on the edge of old Montreal but it's a short easy walk to get anywhere in the area.

I have stayed in this hotel the last two times I have visited Montreal. It's in Old Quebec, but in the less touristy section (touristy part is a few blocks away but it's nice to be a bit out of that). Great restaurants close by and a fantastic bakery (Olive and Gourmando). I find the service here excellent and the... More

We had a 5day meeting in the Hotel St.Paul, it was very successful - we enjoyed our stay and experienced an excellent organization and service from the hotel. It is located in walking distance to the old harbour Vieux Montreal, several good restaurants and most of the main sights.

We selected this hotel based on a recommendation from a former local. It was definitely convenient to old Montreal and in a nice part of town. The rooms are small - they did not think through our group reservation giving the smallest room to a couple and the slightly larger room to the single. However, the rooms were adequate enough.... Great location for the Old Port, which is exactly what we were looking for. Walking distance to all the bars, restaurants and sights that the Old Port has to offer. Check-in was friendly and efficient. The room was spacious for a city centre hotel. Two robes provided, which of course is the way it should be when a room is... More

We stayed here for a weekend in June. It is right in the heart of the city, walking distance from the old port and old Montreal. The rooms are a good size for a major city centre hotel and very clean with lots of towels . The staff are very friendly and helpful and not false like some places can... More

Valet parking, great location for tourist attractions and downtown core a short walk away. Cleaning service is thorough. Gym is in basement, secluded. Only con would be the dark elevators and hallways. A little creepy....

The St. Paul hotel is modern and imaginatively designed. My suite was extremely comfortable and quiet. I found the front desk staff courtesy and attentive to my needs. The elegant buffet breakfast, available in a relaxing lounge on the second floor, is excellent.

Loved the hotel... location was perfect... and so were the staff. Plus got an amazing upgrade to a suite! Would highly recommend. Easy to walk to downtown and to the old town and to the water. The breakfast was fresh and healthy. I didn't check out the restaurant but it looked good.

I love staying in unique boutique hotels - but I have to confess I don't like being overcharged for the 'experience' when it doesn't quite live up to its promises in promo materials. For the same price (or most likely less) I could stay in a brand name hotel and at least know that I will most likely get what... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
