We were really impressed with this Hotel. The staff were delightful and most helpful, the décor and ambience better than average for this class of hotel, lovely location in the Old Town and certainly a great improvement on The Radisson Blu that we had stayed in in Philadelphia. I would stay here again!

Hotel St. Paul is in a great location for exploring the nooks of the old part of Montreal. There are great dining options close by for the foodie travelers too. All the staff was very friendly and the only awkward moment was when housekeeping came a little too early while we were still sleeping. Otherwise everything was great!

Great boutique decor, quite a cold lobby, good restaurant with good servers. The bellhops needs to be better trained on etiquette and manners. One of the male waiters we had was particularly unpleasant...I do not know why as I left the hotel & restaurant with a 1,5K bill for only 4 days. I think there is a lot to do... More

I really liked this hotel. The room (a suite) was large, clean while the carpet was a bit tired, did not feel dated. That said, the hotel has 2 things about it that are worth noting: first, the hotel hallways are illuminated with red (VERY red) lights; think like a black light type lighting. It's not that it was bad,... More

Dear Paul W, It is a pleasure to know you have enjoyed your stay with us at the St Paul Hotel. We're glad you liked our establishment. The hallways are indeed somewhat darker than most. The purpose is to induce calmness on the floors and also create a clash with the bright and vivid rooms. The proper head of department... More

We spent 2 nights at the hotel this past weekend. We had a superior room that was spacious. Nice bathroom and great shower. Everything was very clean. I will agree with other comments that it would have been nice to have real milk in the fridge over the powder coffee mate that was provided, however this did not diminish our... More

The hotel itself was pretty as was the room. Spacious and well decorated. There however were 2 main problems. 1) the woman at the front desk in the morning barely spoke English. Not good for a hotel.. Also had no idea when asking for suggestions for breakfast. 2) valet. Don't bother, they park your car in an outdoor lot that... More

The signature floor rooms are really well worth the upgrade. Our room was gorgeous and airy, very comfortable with a nice and clean bathroom. Also really enjoyed HamBar during our stay - great vibe, friendly service and good selection at the bar. Didn't have the continental breakfast but the brunch spots across the street from the hotel were delicious.

Last weekend my partner and I stayed at Hotel St. Paul in Old Montreal. This was my second stay and it exceeded my first visit last fall. We upgraded to a larger room and was very happy we did. Gorgeous, large bathroom, lots of windows (that actually open) and the best of all was the bed - surrounded by sheers... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
