I stayed just for one night in April 2015. This hotel has a beautiful exterior and is in a great location. The lobby is minimalist and if that is your style you'll love it. The bed was comfortable, the A/C worked well and quickly if needed. The bathroom products do not list ingredients (and cannot be found online) so bring... More

Nice boutique hotel with countless restaurants along its namesake street. Go out the door, make 2 rights within 50 feet and start choosing from a wide variety of restaurants. Excellent valet parking at the St. Paul for a reasonable price.

My wife and I stopped in after an amazing meal at Joe Beef. We just wanted to have a nightcap and Hotel St. Paul was recommended by a stranger on the street. With no more than that information, we took a chance and were pleasantly surprised. As we approached, it sounded like a club but once inside it was a... More

We will definitely stay there again if/when we visit montreal again. Only recommendation is to go out for breakfast, as their continental option is very basic and staff and wait staff are not really into service.

The facility shows wear and tear including the lobby where the flooring was road salt covered, simply not attactive The room we were assigned faced the front of the building which resulted in a very noisy environment preventing a good night sleep, The furnshings in the room were dated showing excessive wear as was the case in the bar/dining area. The... More

Travelled to Montreal for a 2 night short winter experience and chose this hotel for its location in the Old Town district. While there was some renovations going on at the time it was not inconvenient. Good modern amenities, friendly reception, and good bar & restaurant within that is well utilised by locals. Great access and proximity to Old Town... More

The hotel has so much character down to the smallest details. We were thrilled with the location, within walking distance from a variety of Montreal's trendy restaurants. It's a short cab ride from some of the best shopping in Canada! The staff at the hotel are fantastic and ensure that your stay will be memorable! Can't wait to go again!

The room was huge and very comfortable, but could have had wall decorations. The bathroom had a full shower and a bath with a shower. Renovations in the lobby took away from that space, but the staff's friendliness and assistance more than made up for it.

Dear Ward H, We would like to thank you for your kind words about our establishment. We're glad you have enjoyed the size and comfort of your room. I leave very few negative reviews, but this hotel is poor. We waited 20 minutes for our room to be checked prior to check in. The room was just dirty. Mud on the floor, dusty everywhere, lipstick on the glasses in the washroom. Everything in this hotel is tired. We were told that they serve breakfast until 11:00am (included in... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
