We booked this hotel for 4 nights from booking.com but spend only one night due to our fatigue. Very uncomfortable hotel, NO ELEVATOR (!), we had to carry our luggages up to the third floor while no one helped us, very small room (while we asked for superior, queen size bed and when we asked for a better room they... Hello Angelina, we are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay at our hotel. We unfortunately do not have an elevator for guests because it is an older, historic building, but we gladly help any of our clients with their luggage if they ask for help at the reception. Because the hotel is so busy during the... More

First visit to Montreal, really pleased with choosing here. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the "Sex" shop below (for those from the UK, read Ann Summers) - basically a glorified underwear shop. From some over the top reports, we were expecting this place to be right in the middle of a red light district! The hotel is on the... More

Thank you for having take some of your time to review us on trip advisor, its really important for us, its a good idea for the mini stair lift but we cannot built one because its an historic building and the city dont let us. However we are looking for others ways and we enjoy very much to have suggestions,... More

Right in the middle of it all (unknowingly came during Just for Laughs festival). Great central location, easy walks to old city, plateau neighborhood, Mont Royal park. Was relatively quiet for the central/loud location (the AC unit helped mask the noise). Parked on the street with no problem (just pay attention to the no parking times, and when it is... More

This hotel was located right in the heart of the Just For Laughs Festival. The room, despite being right above a DJ booth, was incredibly quiet. It was a good size for a couple. The bathroom situation was a bit odd. The actual toilet was in a separate room from the sink and shower. If there was a small sink... More

Thank you for your feedback, i am glad to read that you did like the hotel + staff and also you did enjoy the jfl festival . The steps are a part of being in a historic building but as well the wood floors and brick walls, its a hotel with a lot of character! If you deceide to come... More

Jar dins Gamelin in the Quartier des Spectacles has become our nightly stop on the way back to our hotel. It's right next to the Berri-UQAM Métro stop. There's a café bar that serves beer, wine and light food, and music every night. Wednesday it was Brazilian music, and dozens of couples danced the night away. Thursday was 80's infused... More

We enjoyed staying at this hotel. We had read on TA about the sex shop (slight exaggeration more of a lingerie shop its neon lit 'erotica' sign) and the steep stairs which are difficult with heavy luggage so we knew what to expect. Our room was small & well equipped. I didn't like the dim lighting which along with non-... More

I booked Quartier des Spectacles for just a night. Location is perfect. Close to subway stations (Saint-Laurent and Place des Arts), restaurants and the lovely and vibrant Place des Arts, where famous festivals (i.e Francofolies and Jazz Festival) take place. I got a spacious room with full kitchen. Spotless room and bathroom. Breakfast is complimentary and has many options. As... More

Our first trip to Montreal happily landed us here - a very convenient location in the arts center, with performance venues all around. Vieux (old) Montreal is a 5-10 minute walk. We were on the second floor, so no problem with the stairs. Corner view looking west down Sainte Catherine (pedestrian street at this point). Double windows, so no noise... More

Stayed here for a night while travelling through the USA and Canada. The hotel was pretty easy to find, parking was possible on a small lot behind the hotel (for which you had to hand in the keys of the car to the guys at the parking, which felt somewhat weird. We noticed this at a lot of parkings though).... More

Staying in Quartier des Spectacles

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theaters, and exhibition centers are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.
