Great location, room very clean and warm, no street noise. Priced reasonably. Downside to hotel - lots of stairs. Lots. If you have a big bag you might find it a challenge if you are not fit. Not sure if there is disabled access.

Thans for your review, you are right people have to manage the steep stairs because we dont have any elevator its a historic building, and now that the street is pedestrian its even nicer to be downton,,hourra for the location. I hope we will see you back soon, Carole More

First. Unexpectedly, they gave us an isolated room with long stairs in another apartment separate from the hotel building. The room smelled cigrette smoking. However, they kindly offered to change the room. Second. The price was unexpectedly higher compared to Frenchized inns. Rooms were clean. Service and hospitality was poor.

Hello,i am sorry about the inconvenient with the different entrance for the studios, we try to get it more quiet that way. Thanks about the note on the smoking smell we are a non-smoking hotel and i will see for those who did not respect our politic. I dont understand your second part, is it possible the price is more... We wanted to stay in downtown Montreal, in a hotel close to downtown, and the Old City. This hotel, from what we read online, was ideal, and the price was right. Unfortunately what we didn't learn until we got there, was that the hotel's check-in desk was on the Second Floor, up a very, very long flight of stairs. And... More

Our budget boutique hotel is located on the second floor of a centennial building and there is no possibility of an elevator. We realize that there are numerous stairs to contend with and that it can be difficult for some guests. We indicate this situation in several locations on our website to help prevent any issues. I am pleased, however,... More

A perfectly located off-beat hotel in Montreal's theater district, proximate to downtown and Old Port of Montreal. The rooms are spacious and clean, each unique in its orientation and decor. Helpful staff and, really, everyone in the hotel seemed to be having a wonderful time. The stairs really are long, so the hotel is not suitable for those with limited... More

My husband and I were recently in Montreal on business and stayed at the Hotel Quartier des Spectacles. It has been a while since we've stayed at a budget hotel and I wasn't sure what to expect, especially when we walked up and there was a sex boutique next door to the hotel. That's where the skepticism stopped. The hotel,... More

Absolute PERFECT location for discovering the Old Port and downtown Montreal. Everything within walking distance. Rooms unique...well equipped. Not 5 star but clean and spacious...had everything we needed. Staff friendly...excellent service and very knowledgeable regarding the city. We booked this hotel with a Groupon and after our first visit, would gladly stay again. It was the friendly staff that truly set apart this hotel from previous hotel experiences. The staff were friendly, inviting and proud of working in the hotel. The accomodations were basic and provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The decor and cleanliness... More

This is a basic hotel that makes the most of its assets. It was squeaky clean with gleaming original wood floors and old brick feature walls. The staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful. It is perfect for the traveller who values character over 5 star accommodation and who can manage stairs. The continental breakfast was a highlight with a... More

You've have probably gathered from other reviews that this establishment is adjacent to a sex shop and that the street it's on is not exactly wowee. However, once you get over that hump, you'll quickly realise that the overall location is very good and is within easy walking distance of the old part of the city, which for us was... More

Staying in Quartier des Spectacles

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theaters, and exhibition centers are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.
