This hotel is a good value and in a great downtown location on the main boulevard. Just blocks from the Via Rail train station and University Boulevard, the hotel adjoins Chinatown. Get the upgraded room for $10 more, as it is larger and has a sofa. Clean rooms and common areas. Nice lobby. The parking at the hotel is quite... More

Excellent location for subway and walking to crescent street/old town area. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were small but clean. Excellent free wifi access!

Hotel was very nice and excellent value for the F1 season. Hotel is basic and a bit dated and certainly the rooms are small, Breakfast was plentiful and good. Overall good budget hotel in a very central location. Would happily recommend to anyone wanting a room to sleep in with breakfast but nothing else.

This was a great locaiton, with a very nice looking hotel. The breakfast was nice if you like pastries and cereal. The room was typical of a downtown hotel which is small but had been updated. Great view, comfortable for the two of us. Very convenient to all that downtown has to offer.

Our first night was in a room with bunks bolted to the wall, single beds, and our view was a fenced in rooftop fan. But the place was a good price and in Montreal that means a bit less expensive than the ridiculously overpriced norm. Our main complaint is the smell of over-cleanliness, and the very small window for real... More

Very basic accomodations in the center of the city, very close to Chinatown and old Montreal, so plenty of restaurants close by, but nothing much at the hotel. Pleasant staff but the room was tiny, and the shower and bathroom even smaller. The room was cLean and functional, but not a place to hang out and relax "in house." Parking... More

We have stayed here three times, coming up for the Formula 1 Grand Prix. The location of the hotel is great - very close to bus routes and subway stops. The old city is a 10 minute walk, which opens up all sorts of possibilities for dining. The rooms are similar to most european budget hotels, which means they are... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Bakeries, markets, restaurants, and buffets crowd the brightly graffitied streets of Chinatown, the city's aromatic destination for pan-Asian cuisine. Distinguished at its entry points by towering vermillion paifang gates, the compact neighborhood acts as a focal point for the Chinese community, hectic with educational facilities, cultural centers, acupuncturists, and foreign-language newspapers. Especially vibrant in the warmer months, when the sweet smell of dragon beard candy along the pedestrian walks of Rue de la Gauchetière signal the beginning of the outdoor street fair season, Chinatown is a treasure hunter's dream, with enough knickknack and curiosity shops to tempt even the pickiest shoppers. The convivial vibe picks up after dark, when the area's active nightlife offers evening crowds their choice of drink, dance, and midnight snacks of pho or oysters. Chinatown's mix of new and old, with herbal remedies being sold alongside pop-culture DVDs, gives the area its own animated brand of moxie.
