Hotel location is wonderful, but otherwise, it simply isn't worth it. We arrive at 1 AM after a show, and were met with a pretty grouchy receptionist. He charged us DOUBLE the fee of our reservation and took a hefty deposit. When I showed him our booking confirmation with the confirmed prices, he claimed there was nothing he could do... More

Of the 4 hotels we stayed in during our Canada trip (2 in Istanbul + 2 Canadian), Travelodge had the best location being: -1 narrow block away from Chinatown -1 block away from Rue Ste Catherine (Place des Arts and Place des Festivals) - across the street from the Complex Desjardins - the towers are lit green at night -... Friendly staff at the receptions answered all our questions about when and where to go, etc. Rooms were tidy, Continental breakfast was offered - for us included in room-rate, but maybe other tariffs do not include it - with a bit wider selection than usually. We slept well and can recommend it

Travelodge Montreal Centre was a nice (but older) building. Clean rooms, good service with underground parking at an extra fee. Good value and great location. You are parallel to St-Catherine's and in the heart of old Montreal. I would stay here again.

Ok, I stayed one night in Montreal. Firstly, I did my check in and good, went to my room. Having in mind that it is a cheap hotel, I didnt expect much of it. Then I started to have my surprises. My room card blocked me outside of the room at least 5 times in one day. At least. After... More

The location was great, parking.....I am not even sure if they have parking. Every guest I heard was told they were full. Room was small. but clean, same with the bathroom, comfortable though. Staff were friendly, communication between reservation and the front desk was very poor. My reservation was fouled up, and there always seem to be a line at... More

Location was in the middle of what we needed, sightseeing in old Montreal and access to the comedy festival, but it was a little further into the downtown, but an easy walk. My friend and I had a twin room, it was really small, not really anywhere to put our luggage. They did provide a free basic breakfast. All in... More

Clean, basic and functional. As per previous reviews the staff are all very friendly and helpful. Air con units are old (noisy) and really need replacing but that's minor. The included breakfast was poor - it's definitely not a continental breakfast - rather save yourself the disappointment and order cooked breakfast - it's extra but worth it. Free wifi is... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Bakeries, markets, restaurants, and buffets crowd the brightly graffitied streets of Chinatown, the city's aromatic destination for pan-Asian cuisine. Distinguished at its entry points by towering vermillion paifang gates, the compact neighborhood acts as a focal point for the Chinese community, hectic with educational facilities, cultural centers, acupuncturists, and foreign-language newspapers. Especially vibrant in the warmer months, when the sweet smell of dragon beard candy along the pedestrian walks of Rue de la Gauchetière signal the beginning of the outdoor street fair season, Chinatown is a treasure hunter's dream, with enough knickknack and curiosity shops to tempt even the pickiest shoppers. The convivial vibe picks up after dark, when the area's active nightlife offers evening crowds their choice of drink, dance, and midnight snacks of pho or oysters. Chinatown's mix of new and old, with herbal remedies being sold alongside pop-culture DVDs, gives the area its own animated brand of moxie.
