When we approached our hotel from the outside, my expectations for what the inside would look like were really low. I was so happy to be wrong! The room was really spacious and clean. We were at the end of the hall on the fourth floor and we did not face the highway, so we heard very little to no... More

I booked this hotel through Priceline because of the price and proximity to downtown. I was very leery about staying at this hotel because of the on-line reviews, however, after getting there and checking in, I was pleasantly surprised. The check in staff were very courteous, the room was very nice and the location, excellent. We had a suite so... More

This hotel is in serious need for renovations. Although the room was okay, the hall, lobby and resturant was showing its age. The restaurant could also use a good cleaning. The hall smelled like a gym locker. The food was not so good, but worst of all, the coffee was horrible! The noise from other rooms was annoying. I did... More

Stayed here in August 2015, check in was slow, the building seems old and tired, but bedrooms seemed fairly renovated. Air conditioner was loud however and the bathrooms were partially renovated. Rooms were clean. There's an outdoor pool that the kids loved, it also looked a little old, but kids don't care. Lifeguard on duty. Location is great, 1 block... More

I am laying in my comfy bed at the Hotel Espresso as I write this and I must say I am pleasantly surprised by this spot. I booked it based on price and location but was a little nervous of what I was getting our young family into as I read some of the reviews here. Let me put your... More

This Hotel has a friendly, cheerful, clean atmosphere. My sons (ages 11 &15) and I really enjoyed our stay. Only a short walk to both Metro lines, St Catherine St, and many great restaurants. Also a short walk to the Museum of Architecture. Reasonably priced garage at the hotel. Nice outdoor pool.

If you're wanting a quiet romantic evening forget about it. This hotel is what it is...moderately priced close enough to downtown action for people who are in party mode. There was a huge Moroccan wedding happening on the second floor and we could hear the music from our suite on the third floor. My group stayed there so we could... More

We booked this via Hotels.com and got an ok rate, the hotel seemed clean and the room was pretty nice as well. When we checked in, we were told that there would be no smoking in the rooms (obviously), but that we would be charged a fee for noise complaints. Fine, we are 3 adults (a couple + myself), we... I m sorry that your stay was not up to par..we thank you for your comments and will try to do better on your next stay. Just to be precise the sign behind the door is standard and the security guard comes up to the room only if anther room calls at which point he must present himself because many... More

We stayed in this hotel two weeks ago. The surrounding area is undergoing building work which might suggest that it is being developed. Certainly the hotel needs the same level of attention. I checked previous tripadvisor reviews and I remember one saying there was nothing particularly bad about this hotel, but there was nothing to recommend it either. I agree.... More

The hotel is nice, old however newly renovated. Beds are not too comfortable. Air conditioners machines are old ad well, located on Guy Street which is in a really good spot. Happy with the price however. I liked the big gift shop on the main floor as well!

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
