This Hotel has a friendly, cheerful, clean atmosphere. My sons (ages 11 &15) and I really enjoyed our stay. Only a short walk to both Metro lines, St Catherine St, and many great restaurants. Also a short walk to the Museum of Architecture. Reasonably priced garage at the hotel. Nice outdoor pool.

If you're wanting a quiet romantic evening forget about it. This hotel is what it is...moderately priced close enough to downtown action for people who are in party mode. There was a huge Moroccan wedding happening on the second floor and we could hear the music from our suite on the third floor. My group stayed there so we could... More

We booked this via Hotels.com and got an ok rate, the hotel seemed clean and the room was pretty nice as well. When we checked in, we were told that there would be no smoking in the rooms (obviously), but that we would be charged a fee for noise complaints. Fine, we are 3 adults (a couple + myself), we... I m sorry that your stay was not up to par..we thank you for your comments and will try to do better on your next stay. Just to be precise the sign behind the door is standard and the security guard comes up to the room only if anther room calls at which point he must present himself because many... More

We stayed in this hotel two weeks ago. The surrounding area is undergoing building work which might suggest that it is being developed. Certainly the hotel needs the same level of attention. I checked previous tripadvisor reviews and I remember one saying there was nothing particularly bad about this hotel, but there was nothing to recommend it either. I agree.... More

The hotel is nice, old however newly renovated. Beds are not too comfortable. Air conditioners machines are old ad well, located on Guy Street which is in a really good spot. Happy with the price however. I liked the big gift shop on the main floor as well!

I was dreading our one night stay at Hotel Espresso after we won it on Priceline and read the reviews here. We didn't spend a lot of time at the hotel. We arrived about 10pm at night and left by 8:30am the next morning. Check in was quick and easy. We were told about the parking charges ($24.95) and then... More

We got this hotel through Priceline for $59. Having read the other reviews, I was a little nervous but it was great. I travelled with two kids and we had no problems. The room was fantastic. Hard wood floors. Very clean and modern looking. Beds were super comfortable. The gym room was full of different machines and not too busy.... More

The hotel was near the railway line but it didn't really bother us and there was a direct line from Berri-UQAM metro station to Alier-Laurent station which was then a 7 min walk to the hotel. The room was spacious and had a small fridge and microwave. There was also a laundry on the fifth floor which was very convenient.... More

We stayed here because we came into town for the Just for Laughs festival. The rooms are very spacious, the beds very comfortable and the location a good walking distance to everywhere. If you feel it is too much walking only two blocks to the Metro and for $3.25 per person you are downtown. Parking is a little steep but... More

This hotel is in a great location in downtown Montreal but I really wasn't pleased with it. We arrived a early, around noon. They told us it was $25 to go up to the our room, which they said was ready. We said no. They kindly stored our bags. We came back after 6pm. When we went to room room,... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
