I stayed with Lena at the Montreal Oasis a few weeks ago. This is a great bed and breakfast for the type of people who don't want to stay in the chain hotels, offering a nice cosy room in a great house close to the Altwater metro station. Lena gave me travel help and advice, catered for my vegetarian diet... More

The Oasis is a beautiful place to be for a stay in Montreal. Lena was a wonderful host and we had several nice talks about all kinds of topics. Breakfasts were big and very tasty, every morning there was something different. The rooms are big and I truly felt like coming home in the evenings. Surely, when I come back... More

I can only say, pay no mind to the complainer behind the moniker Flying Squirrel. This is a lovely place with a very charming host. The Oasis is a convenient walk to most Centre-Ville attractions, but it is also a great place to relax. There are lovely shaded gardens, beautiful sunny rooms and more books than an average small town... More

We loved this place! My wife and I had never been to Montreal and so had no idea where to stay - we asked around amongst friends and colleaugues and a few places were mentioned but Montreal Oasis was the place that was mentioned a few times....and we're just not that into staying at places like the Holiday Inn so... We can laugh about it now, but it wasn’t funny at the time My wife and I don’t mind staying at modest hotels as long as the rooms are clean and in good working condition. My sister booked Montreal Oasis for 3 days and we were expecting a nice surprise. Unfortunately, it was a surprise of a different sort. On... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at A Montreal Oasis. The inn is charming and homey, breakfast was simply delightful, and our hostess made such interesting conversation. I honestly felt like I was staying at my aunt's house. It was wonderful, all around, and I can't wait to return.

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
