This was my second visit to Castel Durocher. I came with freinds to see my musician son play at a local club. The apartment was delightful. I love this place, it is reasonable, refreshing, beautiful, charming and so so convenient. Located within walking distance of the best that Montreal has to offer. I can't imagine ever staying anywhere else. Period.

I have stayed several times at the Castel Durocher and was always struck by the nice atmosphere, artistic decoration, cleanliness but most importantly by the friendliness of the hosts. One really feels at home there, and its central location is making this place truly exceptional. 100% recommended.

To me, this is the best and only place to stay in Montreal. The building looks like a little castle, extremely charming. The inside is also very welcoming. The owners are absolutely charming people: relaxed, welcoming, helpful, friendly, everything you can wish for. The service is impeccable, the rooms beautiful, decorated with a lot of taste, with a lot of... More

We rarely visit the same city on subsequent vacations, but if we were to ever go back to Montreal, we would definitely stay at Castel Durocher again. The Grande Suite was the perfect size for the two of us. It was lovely and very comfortable. Owners Vincent and Sandrine go out of their way to help. We discovered our first... More

What a gem. For less money than a couple of hotel rooms would set you back, you get an apartment with a well-stocked kitchen, common room to relax in, ivy-framed balconies, and extremely friendly, helpful, and attentive hosts. They left chocolate and breakfast for us, helped us find parks and delicious cafés, installed an air conditioning unit when the temperature... More

Location - wonderful quiet residential street close to McGill University. Short walk to shops and restaurants. Walking distance to Mont Royal. Space - fantastic. We had the stained glass suite which comprises a large basement level with 2 bedrooms, shower room, lounge and kitchen. Lots of space. Hospitality: - fantastic. The Belgian hosts made us welcome, and provided a good... More

As former McGill students now living in Paris with a large family of 4 boys, we visit Montreal every year. Castel Durocher has everything we need: space (the two bedroom suite for the boys and the one bedroom suite for us); location (next to McGill and right downtown); practicality ( full kitchens, breakfast, parking) and ambiance (a family style welcome... Castel Durocher is a wonderful B&B situated within walking distance of several attractions in downtown Montreal. The rooms and apartments are comfortable, clean, tidy and spacious. It is run by the fabulous Sandrine and Vincent, who make every stay a truly pleasant experience. We love Montreal for many reasons and staying at the Castel is one of them.

Castel Durocher is located in two old and completely renovated houses in the Mcgill University area of Montreal. It is close to lots of cool places in Montreal. We've stayed here twice and both times have been simply wonderful. It is run by a French Belgium chocolatier/artist couple who are extremely engaging. There is a variety of rooms, all of... More

I have now stayed at Durochet twice, and was thoroughly pleased both times. The rooms are clean, private, very comfortable and well-decorated with a flair for the artistic. The hosts are friendly, full of tips about how to experience Montreal, and the Belgian chocolates are a bonus. I'll never stay in a hotel when I visit this city again.

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
