As with all Fairmonts the rooms and service were first class. ( we had just come via the Fairmont Chateau Frontenac in Quebec ) The beds were amazingly comfortable. With its own lift access to the main railway station it could not have been easier to catch the train to Ottawa. It's centrally placed so getting around to the sights... More

Great location and wonderful staff. Lobby is spacious (can get loud at times) with a comfy seating area with a street view. We took advantage of a President's club suite upgrade - nice junior suite, a bit small, but had 1-1/2 bathrooms. It was easy to overlook the rooftop view from our suite since we had a great review of... More

I traveled to Montreal for a convention and arrived carrying a lot of luggage and trade show equipment. The taxi driver dumped us (two 40-ish women) on the street corner, so we thought we had been dropped off at the wrong entrance, but it turned out that there’s no front drive at this hotel, and to make that worse, there... This hotel is central located. It is in walking distance of many things. It has style and is a classic Fairmont with charm. The staff is attentive from the start with the door greeter. The rooms are small but plush. The bathroom is small but elegant with marble attire. The parking garage is a bit challenging in that you must... More

Great location and very friendly staff. Comfortable rooms. Easily within walking distance of the popular spots or the subway and train. Staff was very helpful with directions. I was able to walk to the trendy areas as well as the main shopping areas.

Tired and worn furniture and carpets in very small rooms . Two people can barely move.' Elegant lobby. Excellent service. Excellent location. John and Yoko had the bed-in here too! Would consider another place next time perhaps.

From the moment we stepped out of the car to the moment we left our stay at the Queen Elizabeth, every thing was outstanding. Check-in was quick and efficient with very friendly and knowledgable staff. Rooms were nicely appointed and quiet. I must say my favorite part were the truly amazing beds!!! They even sell them. We were up for... More

Was lucky enough to stay in the executive suite while on a recent conference visit... Colleagues in ordinary rooms were not so happy, but I was wonderfully comfortable in my luxurious bed and enjoyed the toiletries and leisure pool. Staff in the breakfast room were very courteous and helpful, while the breakfast was interestingly varied. Evening entrees were available for... More

We always try to stay at a Fairmont whenever we travel, and our recent stay confirmed why we are loyal to the Fairmont hotel chain. The hotel is ok bit slightly worn out and with zero charm whatsoever. It is very big and hosts a lot of conventions so I would definitely not go there privately / on leisure. Standard rooms are fine; not really big though, especially the bathroom that is on the tiny side. Very classical decoration. Clean but linen and towels don't... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
