We loved this hotel! It was probably the best hotel for the dollar we've stayed in for quite awhile. It has a metro (subway) station right there - two stops away from Old Montreal; a great little muffin/bagel place for breakfast (or a Starbucks also); we were two (city) blocks from Rue St. Catherine and the entire underground city shopping... This was the best experience I have had traveling. This hotel is in a perfect location. Close to everything. You will not need a car to see and visit downtown Montreal and even further out places. You can take the very CLEAN subway and travel anyway.. (stay away from the blue line, not what you want to see) very close... More

The hotel is perfectly placed in the center of Montreal, close to the highway. The lobby is very nice, the wood panels gives it a nice warm feeling. The room was clean, modern and the bed very comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. We had the buffet breakfast in the restaurant. It was abundant, tasty and great selection. A... More

This Marriott was adequate. The room was nice, and it was clean. However, we had to wait in line far too long to check in because the hotel had only one clerk on duty. The atmosphere of the bar/restaurant was nice, but the alcohol selection was very, very limited.

This is a nice hotel in downtown Montreal which is well maintained to Marriott standards. It is an older property with allot of rooms. It is convenient to shopping and dining albeit a little far from Old Montreal. That is just a few train stops away or a long walk on a nice day so it is really not a... More

We stayed at this hotel for a week in February. What a wonderful hotel. Staff, service, accommodations, etc. nothing was too good for the guest. It's in a great location, with the subway downstairs from the lobby. You don't even have to go outside to get there. There's a Starbucks in the lobby also. Just up the street is the... More

I had to stop over in Montreal unexpectedly on New Year's Eve and was tired and had no desire to 'party' or be around others who were 'partying' and made my wishes clear at check in. I was given an (upgraded they said) room on the 30th floor with a superb view and a lovely layout (loved the huge oval... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
