I recently returned to the Marriott Chateau Champlain for a pleasure stay instead of my usual business visit. Our celebration was my wife's birthday and our anniversary and upon checking in we were given the usual fantastic welcome by the front desk staff! My wife mentioned in passing the purpose of our stay and a few minutes after arriving in... More

I spent an hour and a half to just check emails, after talking to concierge and the internet provider! You really do not expect such internet service for a 4 star hotel and makes it impossible to work from your room if you are on a buisness trip which is essential! It seemed that the "high speed" internet cannot be... More

Have just spent three nights there. I spend a lot of nights in Marriotts (am platinum), and am beginning to discover that full service Marriotts often have the same problem - they all try to save money and switch off the air conditioning. I can stay in a Fairfield, springhill, courtyard and decide my room temperature - but in a... More

Dear Hans O - I offer you our sincere apologies for failing to have our air conditioning system 100% functional when you needed it. I assure you, for our hotel, it was not a questions of costs, but a sincere error on the part of our engineering department. On behalf of our chief engineer and his team, I extend their... More

We had a nice stay at this hotel again recently. The staff is friendly and attentive. The walk to shopping on St Catherine street isn't too far. We like the higher floors for better views of the city and the river. The hotel has plenty of elevators so being on an upper floor isn't inconvenient.

I stay at the Chateau Champlain whenever I am in Montreal for work. The staff of the hotel are fantastic, always helpful and very friendly. The breakfast buffet is delicious, although a little pricey at $26.00. There is a Starbucks in the hotel lobby which is always convenient. The valet service is seamless and very quick in the morning when... More

Nice hotel in downtown relatively close and walking distance to old Montreal and other downtown locations. Hotel's features are old world but rooms are fine - standard Marriott quality. Views are good at higher floors and lounge is nice amenity. Bar restaurant has good selection and good enough food. Since it's an older building walls are thin so your next... More

I recently stayed at the hotel while attending a trade show at Place Bonaventure. Sabrina who works as the Concierge was very helpful in recommending an amazing restaurant for a business dinner. Although they seemed to be short staffed she managed to handle all the calls and guest inquiries politely and professionally!

For those planning a long weekend in Montreal, the Marriott Chateau Champlain is convenient, comfortable, and a good choice. First things first; the bed. One of the best we've slept in with only minimal mattress depression from use. It makes all the difference for overnight recharging. The hotel is a block away from the Bell Centre and easy walking distance... More

I called the hotel ahead of time to notify them of late arrival and make a few requests for my room. My call was met with disdain and annoyance. Customer service doesn't seem to be something they offer. So okay. Maybe I just got a bad person on the phone. Front desk arrival was the same attitude. I get the... More

This hotel has very tiny rooms with even smaller bathrooms. There is a gym and one very small swimming pool. No whirlpool, sauna nor steam room. Parking is very expensive, located 5 levels bwlow ground and without in/out priveleges.

Hello Richard P - thank you for sharing your concerns with us. Very sorry we did not meet your expectations for room size and work out/pool area. Parking options should have been made clearer to you including the valet options with in and out privileges. Very sorry to loose your favour. More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
