Pro's: This is a great hostel. It is in an ideal location on the West end of St Catherine's. The breakfast is incredible. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and made up daily. Twin Queen Room is very spacious with sink in room. The shared bathrooms are kept clean regularly with great hot water and... More

It was great staying in central Montreal. Parking was bit expensive but rooms were great. Decent wash rooms and courteous reception staff. Convenient 15 min walk to Chinatown and Notre Dom church and you may also walk till the port. Good breakfast as well.

This was my first time to Montreal and fortunately the Hotel l'Abri du Voyageur was one of many highlights. The space was clean and the staff were incredibly helpful. The location was absolutely amazing the room price was great. I couldn't have asked for a more accommodating hotel. Free wifi, clean shared bathrooms, lots of towels, A/C, tasty on-site breakfast....lots... More

I had read nothing but great reviews about this hotel... and while i will admit that the location is great, we had a very unpleasant experience with a rodent issue at 2 in the morning... Upon confronting the front desk we were not offered any remorse or apology... "so what, its just a mouse." I didnt catch the name of... More

Found a rat in the room, but hotel was booked full so we couldn't switch. Was eventually offered another room (1 bed only, we had 4 people), but it hadn't been cleaned yet. After refusing to clean it, waited until 3am (it was 1:30 when we started) for another room. BTW, concierge had some serious attitude, and was OUTRAGED when... More

Abri du Voyageur is the first hotel I've ever stayed in in Canada. I spent just one week night - price $65 for a room with bathroom down the hall. The room was warm, clean and comfortable with hard floors and it had more character than most of the hotels I've stayed in in Europe. There were a couple of... More

The Hotel du Voyager is located in the middle of everything you'd like to do in Montreal. Old City is just a short walk away, and fun can be found in every direction. My friend and I had no idea what Montreal would be like or what we could do, but we had an amazing time just wandering the streets... More

U have only seen the room with shared washrooms the person who wrote " crappy hotel" . The studio with kitchenette are excellent for the family and we have used this many times. The newly renovation rooms are top rate with a cachet of historic nostagia. Pleasant staff, clean, excellent location, good price. I rate 4 out of 5

My wife and I spent the Easter Weekend in this hotel. From the very beginning, we felt welcomed, cared and enjoyed every minute of our stay. A few details you need to consider when you use this hotel. Tremendous pros: central location, walking distance to all main attractions and entertainment district. Easy to reach by public transportation, driving or taxi.... More

You deceived us. Well played. Your Expedia add neglected to mention your shared public wasrooms and quaint (read, ridiculously small) bedrooms (read, closets). We suspected something was amiss when your front desk clerk stressed that although the room's furnishings were outdated the room itself was very very clean. We will not be returning.

I am sorry that we did not meet your expectation. Our hotel is in a historic building and has different type of room and the smallest ones are the economics. However, we also have bigger rooms with private bathroom and also some studios apartments. Thank you for your feedback. More

Staying in Quartier des Spectacles

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theaters, and exhibition centers are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.
