I stayed at Hostelling International Montreal in November 2009. The staff is extremely friendly, and the hostel itself offers lots of useful amenities (pay phones, laundry, larger lockers to rent, and internet access at $3CAN/hour). The dorm rooms themselves are tiny with bunk beds, but they offer the basics: in-room lockers, a place to shower and a place to sleep.... more

We stayed here for a few days a few years ago. On our recent second trip to Quebec we stayed here again while in Montreal. The hostel is central enough and close to a metro stop which can be connected with two buses to the airport if you want to save $$. You can walk from the hostel to most... more

The hostel was amazing! The people working there were super friendly, there were cool people from around the world to meet and talk with. The hostel is super close to St. Catherine's street (lots of great shopping!) and a 5 minute walk to the Bell Centre (lots of great concerts, we saw No Doubt while we were there!) The bar... more

Good: Honestly just an awesome moment here… Great location, great staff, very clean and well maintained, daily activities (most free) organized by the hostel… You really get to discover the city. Perfect place for a lone drifter like me. Met people from ‘round the world and surprisingly of all ages… Good food, fun bar, useful free wireless, informativ staff, descent... more

The friendly atmosphere in the common areas (dining area, pool table area, lobby... etc) at HI Montreal (a.k.a. Auberge de Jeunesse") is the reason I choose to stay at a hostel over a hotel. Though the prices are good too. There's free wifi and a complimentary drink included per night... the breakfast is pretty good (selection of cereals, yogurts, baked... more

I have stayed 4 nights at this hostel on my visit to this great city. The private room I had booked was very good, had a tv, private bathroom and a nice confy bed. The location was great 5 minutes away from St. Catherine street, the Bell Centre and metro station. It's more expensive than other hostels (not that much... more

I stayed overnight in the HI Montreal hostel located on Mackay Street (which turned out to be only a 20 min cab ride from the airport! ) Its in a GREAT location, we walked to Rue St. Catherine (the main shopping street) in about 10 minutes, and we were about 3 blocks away from Crescent Street which is just covered... more

This was an ideal hostel for me. I am a young female and was travelling round Canada alone. This place was safe (swipe card entry into the hostel and each room) which was important for me. The room was not massive but there was enough room. It was also very friendly....first night there I went on a bar crawl organised... more
