I stayed here with three other people in two different private rooms in June 2015. The hostel was nothing special: it looked a little grubby and grimy but was generally clean, room space was small (but what do you expect?), bunk beds were sturdy and not too noisy. It would be great if each bed could have it's own light... More

We stayed here for two nights in an 8 bed dorm. The room was fairly clean and the shower room was also fine. The free breakfast was ok (choice of bagel or cereal and fruit) but nothing special. The location wasn't great for this although it is situated close to the mont royal parc which is certainly worth a visit.

We came in to the hostel and being from England we asked about the parking situation. The lady behind the counter said that we can pay for the parking anywhere in the city just type in the code and pay the amount. We didn't no that this was a load of crap cos as we found out they had regions.... More

Sorry about the city parking meters… true that it’s not super flexible for the payments. I supposed that we should have suggested you some of the private parking lots around the hostel… It would have been cheaper and less stressful. I’ll pass the message to the team to better inform the guests. Otherwise, I am happy you appreciated the PBR.... More

We stayed at the hostel for 3 nights recently. I checked the reviews here and made the decisions. But I don’t understand why most of the reviews are good. These are the pros and cons in my opinion: Pros: 1. Good location – short walk to pups, restaurants, cafes, shops, malls, grocery stores etc. 2. Breakfast included: coffee, juice, milk,... More

I stayed here at the end of a trip round Canada and this is and OK hostel with a decent bar and nice food. However the dorm rooms were lacking in facilities, not the light and plug next to each bunk as there had been in other hostels. Though for the price that was OK. My biggest problem was that... More

Bonjour and thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback online. I apologize for the confusion with your reservation and I understand that it must have been quite annoying. We actually do allocate the rooms and beds at the time of booking to prevent such mishandling from happening. I can assure you that it was an isolated mistake and... More

Booked for 1 night at this place for my visit in Montreal. It seems they had some renovation going on (on the outside only). The staff were friendly but however I was disappointed when I went in and they told me that there was an extra $5 charge for non-members (which I wasn't aware of when i booked). Since I... More

Disappointing location. For travellers hoping not to be in your typical downtown construction zone with not many sights around, this hostel is not for you. The hostel itself was just simple, not impressive and needs some sprucing up. Less than average bar. Pillows were terrible. The staff were quite friendly & helpful though, and the Metro is near by.

Good hostel. The location was quite good, very close to downtown, walking distance to shops and quite a few nice bars and restaurants. After arriving at the train station, it's easy to get a bus down to hostel but I walked and it only took maybe 10 minutes. Easy. Rooms were clean and had a quality bar downstairs which is... More

My friends and I had a music show at the Bell Center, so we went at the Hi-Montreal for one night. Negative points: the employee at front desk was struggling with her french (we are all french-canadians) & I would have appreciated a little music background in the kitchen/bistro place in the morning (lack of ambiance) & the pillow very... Bonjour! Great to know that you had a good time with us. Most of our team members are bilingual, native French Canadians, so the quality of French should not be much of a problem. Maybe staying a day or two at this hostel could make sense if you are travelling through Montreal as the building is well located and is kept in relatively good shape. But the staff can act ridiculous and harsh actually. I was cooking pasta and it boiled over as I had left the kitchen for like 4 minues, and by... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
