The place is just lovely and amazing. I'd love to stay there. The location is great because is close to subway station. The hostel staff is very gentle as well. I think they could improve the breakfast service.

I had never booked a room at a hostel before. As they say, there is always a first! And I was not disappointed!!!! The price for a double room is not as cheap as a group room, but the location is great, super close to the subway. In addition to that, they promote lots of activities. I was in a... More

If you're looking for a prime location then this is it. Situated several blocks from The Mountain, Hockey Stadium, and underground shopping center, this is the perfect place to stay. Also very close to subway station, within one block! The hostel also has a downstairs resturant/bar, with good food and drinks. The staff is very friendly and offer great tour... More

we really enjoyed our stay at HI Montreal. The hostel was lovely and the rooms comfortable (but basic), the staff were really friendly and put on lots of great activities. We particularly enjoyed the Paddy's day pub crawl. The breakfast was good too. The only thing that slightly ruined our stay was the amount of school kids running around the... More

Very well located at the center of Montreal for the price! Nice food and friendly staff at the bar! They should wash the blankets though... Mine smiled like homeless people... Not that I have anything against them.

This would be a good place for a stay that lasts a few days, but I wouldn't recommend it more than that. Pros: Well located (nice cafes and food places, short walk to attractions) Free tasty breakfast Nice staff Generally a nice, easygoing crowd Clean Cons: Bunk beds are creaky (in a 10 person bunk, this makes it difficult to... The hostel was a great place to live for a few days, the staff couldn't be more helpful. Only problem was the shower wasn't very good, lack of hot water an lack of well water it was weak. Great locations around the place. Beautiful place just showers let it down.

Bonjour and thanks for the feedback. Indeed, there were a couple of people who have reported having problems with 1 shower… The good news is that the plumber came this morning and a couple of hundred bucks later it seems that the problem has been fixed! :) All the best, Nic, hostel manager More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
