Fantastic hotel for a wonderful experience in Montreal. The heated swimming pool has an inside entrance so you swim under a shield and out into the sunshine, even when the air temperature is -20*C. There are a good restaurant in the hotel and many within walking distance. Cultural landmarks abound in Montreal and our room overlooked one. One of the... More

Very friendly bilingual staff, clean rooms, comfortable, quiet, you can park right at the door for $39, or valet park, but our truck was too high for their parking garage so they directed us to the parking garage across the street, which had high ceilings, but for some reason wouldn't allow trucks. The staff could have been more informed there... More

A King Room acquired on Hotwire.... would definitely stay again! I arrived at 2:00 p.m.... my rooms was not ready but they quickly found another room... only difference was no "pull out couch" but I was travelling alone so it made no difference. Recently renovated well appointed rooms. This hotel was very clean. Rooms overlook roof garden, indoor/outdoor pool, nice... More

The main reason I chose this hotel was because it was across from the train station. We were travelling from New York on the Amtrak and I wanted a hotel which would be close to the station so that we didn't need to do any further transferring as we were arriving in late and leaving early. The hotel is well... More

We stayed here for three nights, were hoping to take advantage of the special that allowed for free parking, or the Club Bonaventure upgrade but it wasn't available for the dates we booked. Room exceeded expectations as the hotel is almost 50 years old but the furnishings were contemporary, room was large, bedding and towels were soft and plush. We... More

Thank you for your review of our hotel. We are so glad you enjoyed the stay with us. It can be a bit different when finding out you are on the top floor but definitely worth the roof top gardens and heated pool. We look forward to seeing you again. More

We stayed here 4 nights. The concierge was very knowledgeable about the city of Montreal. The hotel restaurant's food was very good. I did have to address the manager about a server walking by us twice without asking if we were waiting to be seated. Come to find out, you could seat yourself. The manager was very apologetic and took... More

We stayed 2 nights in the Hotel Bonaventure in Montreal. Our room itself was OK but the bathroom was very small. The bathroom door HAD to be closed in order to get into the tub/shower. And the bathroom door barely cleared the side of the toilet. Also, the bathroom floor was slightly higher than the floor in the room, this... More

We stayed 2 nights in this wonderful Penthouse hotel. It is a bit of a maze at first but it is well indicated. The hotel opened in 1967 for the World's Fair Expo. Designed by Ray Affleck. It is above Place Bonaventure where you will find a huge commercial and exhibition centre. It is also connected with Montreal's underground Metro,... More

Bonaventure is a real piece of paradise right in the middle of the concrete of the city. The botanical gardens with ducks and fish, along with beautiful flowers that grow around is a real delight and a surprise, and all of that is 8 storeys above the ground. The decor is interesting but there are a few things they should... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
