Stayed a couple of nights in September 2009. What they don't tell you until you've already checked in, is that you have to haul your luggage up one or even two long, narrow flights of stairs to get to your room (depending on which floor). I'm sure they would have someone help if you asked, but they didn't offer. Room... more

I picked this B & B because I specifically needed a place that had windows that open-I am allergic to most cleaners and hotels just make me sick. I traveled with my husband and my 80 year old mother who got a room on the first floor so she wouldn't have to walk steps-it was room #2 and it was... more

We stayed in Room 3, which is a "Superior Room" (not sure why). Located at the back of the hotel on the ground floor, with a view of a dumpster and bars on the windows. The room is VERY small and the decor and bedding dated. The bathroom is a good size, clean enough, but the tile and decor dated,... more

Stayed for 3 nights. Located next to parc La Fontaine which is an oasis of tranquility in a busy city. A good choice of shops and restaurants are 5 minutes away on foot, nearest Metro station about 10 minutes. The hotel has a kitchen for use by guests which is great for tea/coffe and hot snacks if you want. Rooms... more

a nice surprise, a cross between a B&B and a boutique hotel. Not too fancy, nice enough rooms. Rooms could use a table fan in the summer to increase air circulation. Located a 10 minute walk from Mont Royal Metro through totally fine neighborhoods. Breakfast included in rate-adequate, not fabulous. Staff helpful but not enough of them during check in... more

My husband and I stayed here for the 5th time last weekend. It was okay. Our overall impression was that they need to step up their cleaning, their professionalism, and the overall impression of the hotel. First, let me say that in the past the place was spotless, the service was impeccable, and we absolutely LOVED it. Something was different... more

We just returned from a wonderful family getaway to Montreal with our two children, ages 16 and 20. I spent days pouring through guidebooks and trolling the web to find a place to stay, initially looking for a bargain in one of the big boutique hotels but eventually they all began to look the same and I focussed on finding... more

Auberge de la Fontaine is the perfect place for a getaway to Montreal, especially to enjoy the many pleasures of the Plateau! One of the reasons I initially chose it was the ease of getting to it - no worries about downtown traffic - it's a quick, easy and painless drive from the US. Parking is simple and convenient. There... more

The auberge offers spacious, clean rooms. The location was perfect for us. The continental breakfast was very good. Plenty of choices -- croissants, excellent cheeses and ham, a variety of cereals, good coffee, yogurts, waffles etc. -- and the staff kept replenishing things past the supposed ending time. This wasn't one of those places that makes guests fight over the... more
