Well I guess it is all about expectations and from the reviews we expected a charming, boutique style B & B but it felt more like a very nice but very basic two-star local Inn. Location is nice but not near much, though it worked for us since we were visiting relatives nearby. Would not recommend it for those looking... More

this was a great place, front desk very helpful, room was cozy and clean, comfy bed...enjoyed the use of kitchen for tea in the evening...morning buffet was healthy and lots of choice...parking not so great (we lucked out, otherwise it would have been not so great) but it is Montreal. All rooms are upstairs...if climbing stairs is an issue.

We stayed in Auberge de la Fontaine during a trip to Montreal, and have no hesitation about recommending it. Located in the plateau Mont-Royal neighborhood, we parked the car upon arrival and didn't move it until we were leaving. The hotel was clean and well kept, and the staff were both friendly and helpful. We were not looking for a... More

That's it - I decided. From now on I will seek an 'auberge' where ever I travel to in the province of Quebec. I am a big fan of anything with a European flavor and Auberge de La Fontaine gave me that feeling. A very personable bilingual receptionist addressed our parking issue and proceeded to give us all the information... More

Clean basics plus...nicely decorated room with no wasted space. Comfortable bed, flat screen T.V., clean bathroom with good shower. Free parking, internet and excellent little breakfast. Bike path outside the door, beautiful park across the street, easy walking distance to many attractions. No elevator which might be an issue for some travellers.

We visited in February on a whim, and booked the hotel via Groupon after reading some good reviews. I can certainly see this being a wonderful summer location when the park across the street is filled with green grass and plenty of people and places to walk to. The parking situation in the winter was very tough, and our car... More

My husband and I found this thru hot wire hotel not knowing as it is our first road trip together as a married couple. Our first together in Montreal. This hotel is cute and aims to please it's customers. The room we were in was small but very cute and clean. The bed was comfortable. We did not have breakfast because we had to leave quite early in the morning but it was set up when we did and it looked OK. The hotel is located in front of... More

This is a quaint 3 story hotel that tries very hard to ensure guests are looked after. Our room was small but functional with a decent bed, small closet, cable TV, and heat controlled in the room. The washroom was average size with a hairdryer, hot , soaps provided with good water pressure. An issue I had is that while... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
