I think we just finished our 8th stay at the Auberge. The friendly, considerate staff welcomed us once again, remembered who we were, knew our preferences from previous stays. Very nice. Beautiful public park across the street. A feeling of safety, even at night. Pleasant feeling that one is in a neighborhood with real people and off the tourist path.... More

Lovely, cozy B&B in trendy neighborhood across from large, lively park. Friendly staff was most accommodating. As walkers, we found the location reasonably convenient to metro, restaurants, and especially enjoyed strolling the park. Parking has limitations but the staff seems experienced with working it out. (Metro ride to Old Town 15 minutes).

I enjoyed staying at this little inn for a couple of nights in May. The room was cute and as quiet as I needed it, the staff incredibly friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was fine. It is located a bit far from a metro (about a 20 minutes walk), but such is life! I however found it a little... More

This was a charming, independent inn. The staff were lovely, the breakfast yummy, and the location perfect. We stayed for 2 nights and were able to walk everywhere, including a great hair salon(!), delicious restaurants, and all over Montreal.

We checked in and had very friendly and knowledgeable staff who spoke English and gave great recommendations for sites, routes, restaurants etc. Our room was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast provided with French flair home cooked meal. Parking spots were provided behind the hotel. Great location across from the Park of fountains. Walking distance to restaurants, shops and downtown. Many... More

We had a lovely 4-night stay at this charming hotel. It is very much a "European-style" hotel, so if you prefer that to a large, fancy, chain hotel, we highly recommend it. Its location makes it easy to get around the Plateau and Mile End areas, as well as being easily accessible to downtown. The park across the street is... More

Dear guest, Thank you for your kind comments and your interest in the Auberge de La Fontaine. Indeed, the beautiful La Fontaine Park is great for a walk, jog or picnic and Mont-Royal avenue, two blocks from the Auberge is just as lively with its eclectic shops, restaurants and independent coffee shops. We would be happy to welcome you on... More

The auberge is a quaint older building with 21 rooms. We stayed on the 3rd floor...lots of steep stairs to climb. Room was very clean. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was well done; nice selection of fruit cereals yogurt muffins and hot quiche. Hotel is across the street from Parc de la Fontaine. ..very pleasant to walk through.... More

No doubt about it, Auberge de La Fontaine is spectacularly located. Across from Park la Fontaine, just down from Mont Royal and great restaurants and shops, close to St. Denis and St. Laurent. Has Gold rating for green and that's just not right. Bath and hand products are colour, scent and chemical. Easy to have allegedly "green" practices that are... More

Nice small hotel. The location is convenient to many BYOB restaurants on the Plateau. Room size varies so check with hotel when reserving. Breakfast is included, and is a great way to start the day (cereal, muffins, fresh fruit, yogurt, etc.)

We've been staying at the Auberge for nearly 15 years (and recommending it to friends) and in the last five have seen a slide downhill. The location is outstanding.... in a charming neighborhood with an outstanding parc across the street and great access to metro or walk. The staff this visit was lovely and very helpful and the bed very... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
