In Montreal, you definitely want to stay in this exact area, just around the corner from the most central of all 64 metro stations of the city (three lines converge here) and from the bus station from which you can get a convenient, ten-dollar ride to Trudeau Airport. Plenty of restaurant choices and a lovely bookstore are here too. However,... More

This is a lovely little hotel at a fantastic location. It is very close to the Berri-UQAM station, from where you could take the subway or buses to most places in the city, or bus No. 747 to the airport (check the STM website for schedule). The hotel staff read the request ahead of time and promptly put me in... More

After deciding I need to get away from the States for the weekend, I settled on Montreal and Quality Hotel. You can blink and miss the building, only a small sign gives it away. Now, I cannot rave enough about the location. Sure, the area itself can be a bit seedy. If you're from the city and not a yuppie,... More

This Quality Inn was a very nice well kept older hotel. The rooms had very nice beding that included a down comforter and adequate pillows. The room we were in did have limited plugs. The night stands on both sides of the bed had no extra plugs for your electronic devices unless you unplugged the lamp. If your a light... More

Great location, a 5 minute walk from the bus stop and metro station. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. A two minute walk to St-Denis, no taxi needed for a nice dinner out on the town! Service was friendly and efficient, I highly recommend this place.

Went for my friends birthday weekend. Parking is limited, room was nothing special heater was very temperamental. Front desk lady was kind of rude. The man working in place of her for the weekend by himself was great, very friendly and helpful. Check in was at 4pm which was inconvenient as we simply wanted to get ready and go out,... More

When we stayed at this hotel last year we were not at all impressed but there has been a vast improvement now. Our check-in was fast and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The lobby had lots of chairs, a coffee machine and an impressive fish tank. Our room was large enough to have a frig, microwave, drawer... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
