We were in Montreal for a hockey tournament. I booked a superior room, wich had nothing superior, despite being at the 22nd floor. My friends had regular rooms on the 11th floor and these rooms were almost similar. In both cases, the furniture was old, the bathrooms were aging, the TVs were not HD, Wi-fi was slow, etc. Very basic... More

The Hotel Gouverneur is showing its age but is kept very clean and has very good rates, services and location. It is only a 2 minute walk to the subway from the hotel lobby, with planning you can visit lots of great Montreal locations without going outside at all -- which means you can leave your bulky winter coats, boots,... The hotel is very clean and not trashy, the reason i would never recommend it is the awful security that makes you feel like a kid again and buying alcohol underage. They insulted both me and a buisness partner. The security at the front door on new years 2015 is the reason ill never come back. Clean rooms terrible service... More

Booked this hotel at the last minute for a quick one night stay after being in Montreal for business. I've been to Montreal countless times and know the area well. However, our usual hotel was not available so a friend suggested the Gouveneur. Booking the day before arrival we only paid about $135+tax for a Business Class room, an upgrade... More

Every couple of years or so I give this hotel a chance and regret it. It's badly in need of a renovation. The location is great, near UQAM, the Gay Village and the bus terminal. That's about all it has going for it. The linens are fresh but that's about it. The shower water temperature barely functioned. I had issues... More

Was at the hotel Gouverneur recently. The location of the hotel is okay. Its about a 15 to 20 min walk to the shopping areas on Rue Saint Catherine. The metro is close by though so it is very convenient. Accessing the supermarket from the hotel lobby is a big plus especially in winter and couple of fast foods close... More

I'm normally in Montreal 3-4 times a year the last 3 hrs and always stay at the Gouverneur. Location is perfect. In the middle of Saint Catherine Street Restaurants, clubs, bars and shopping. Wonderful customer service, a sauna and a great indoor saline pool! The only bad part about this wonderful hotel is the guest rooms need to be updated... More

This hotel has two big things going for it: location, and internal access to the food court and food market. Hotel is clean and well taken care of, however it can use serious renovation. Bathrooms and faucets are outdated, as well as the rest of the furniture lamps etc. However everything is in working order and clean. Definitely priced right... More

Ok... I guess for the price it's what you get! But, a little more TLC for this aging property is a good idea. Fairly good location in the heart of the St Denis action and steps from Old Montreal , and on top of Berri Metro ... A ok , just time for a good Reno!

I've stayed in this hotel several times and loved every minute of my trip. Rooms are clean and relatively inexpensive (with AAA discount) at around $100-$130 per night. The location is excellent, with a train stop located in the food court of the hotel. Staff very friendly and near all the nightlife and happenings. Close to shopping, museums and 10... More
