This is not a 4 star hotel as the front sign of the Hotel Gouverneur claims. It is not even a 3.5 star. Perhaps it's a 3 star. This is a detailed review but I'm trying to save even just one person from the ridiculous chaotic service of this place. I arrived to find the entrance under construction with grubby... More

We went to Montreal by train from Ottawa. Hotel was reached in no time by the underground. Spent two nights in this hotel. Hotel is comfortable, upper floors provide a wonderful view of Montreal. Staff was very nice and efficient. Rooms have free wifi. Hotel has access to the Metro allowing travellers to reach easily Montreal shopping areas. Bell boy... More

4 of us recently stayed here (in 2 rooms) over the New Year's holiday weekend. I wasn't honestly sure what to expect, given the mixed reviews on here, but our experience was as follows: We arrived and decided to park in the garage underneath the hotel as it had recently snowed and we didn't want to deal with parking on... We stayed there for a night , for just a bit more 100$ . Great location, with access to a grocery store , liquor/wine store and access to the subway without going outside. We had a room on the 28th floor. With a renovated bathroom , great view of Montreal .Super clean room. And no waiting to check in. Only... More

This hotel is in a great location - in the midst of an vibrant community. There was lots of good places to eat within a short walkiing distance to the hotel. The hotel itself was clean and although there was a large function going on our floor was quiet.

I thoroughly enjoyed staying at this hotel, the location was fantastic and surrounded by lots of quaint little bistros and bars (brilliant karoake bar just down the street!) I stayed here with my best friend and we had a great time, the staff were friendly and helpful (giving us maps and advice was no problem and check in was quick... More

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights for a hockey tournament. The hotel was filled with hockey teams, and I have to say they are very well set up for this type of event. They had enough security to keep the boys (and the hockey parents!) under control, but it wasn't obtrusive. The reservations staff handled my special request... More

Very quiet, comfortable, spacious rooms with the needed stuff (hair dryer, flat-screen TV, coffee maker, desk, etc.). But the first thing that impresses is the view (see photos) of the city. Really terrific. The other thing is the location: it's right by the Beri-UQAM metro station which you can access through the lobby, and from there get anywhere in Montreal... More

I got bitten by bed bugs which resulted in a severe allergic reaction. It was a terrible situation but the staff at the hotel made it much better. They were extremely caring and professional. They refunded my stay, parking, gave free breakfast for 2 days, changed my room and checked up on me often. This can happen at any hotel,... More

Incredible city views from upper floors, well worth the additional few dollars especially given strength of US dollar. Room was nice and included breakfast. Located near great nightlife, particularly if interested in the gay scene.

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighborhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomized by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
