Hotel de L'Institut is one of the best hotels I have stayed in anywhere. Rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable, quiet and tastefully furnished. Dinner was beautifully cooked and presented and met our requirements for a special occasion. Staff made guests feel very welcome. Frank in the restaurant went above and beyond the call of duty to serve us and... More

I use to stay at hotel de l Institut on a regular basis. I liked it because it is a school and it is nice to be part of it. Since November they decided to change the breakfast they were offering. I guess to cut the cost at the expense of the clients. Before you had a menu you can... More

Dear EricMToronto, We are sorry to know that the changes we made to the breakfast buffet disappointed you. It is true that we made some changes to our buffet offered when we don't have students at the restaurant (weekends, summer, holidays and some weeks during school), but note that ''à la carte'' choices are still available when we have students... My daughter and I traveled back to Montreal for her Convocation at McGill. Her residence for the last 4 years was a house on Avenue Laval which is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. When visiting my daugher during the last few years, I have always stayed at the Hotel de L'Institut. My stay at the hotel has always... More

Have been staying in this hotel on quite a few occasions now. It is a hotel "institute" where students actually learn the hotel-business as part of a curriculum. Out of (8?) floors, only 2 are dedicated to the actual "hotel" portion, the rest are classes etc...I think there are about 40 rooms. That being said, you would never guess this... More

We had one night in Montreal and I had recently read about teaching hotels in a magazine article. It mentioned Hotel de L’Institut (which may be short for Hotel de L’Institut de Tourisieme du Quebec). The cost was reasonable for a downtown hotel at $169/night (full buffet breakfast included) so we took a chance. Arriving at the hotel, we were... More

I booked this hotel based on the location, price, and reviews of other travelers. I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived to find out we were upgraded to a suite free of charge as the room we had booked was not available. The hotel was gorgeous, extremely clean, extremely friendly staff, and very quiet. We were able to walk to... More

This is a hospitality and culinary school, which also has a hotel on 2 floors. The decor is modern and smart, very clean rooms. Killer breakfast is included in the price, and the students cook and serve the meals. Located in a cool university neighborhood, you are not in the center of the city, but close enough to get to... This hotel is well-located, literally right next to a metro (subway) stop which makes it super-easy to get around the city. There is some stuff that's walking distance but Montreal is rather spralling so you'd still need to take the subway or cabs (conveniently, there is also a taxi line right outside. Free wifi in the room and free breakfast... More

I've been in this hotel six times for business, two weeks each. It is few blocks away from the 747-airport shuttle bus stop of Rue Berri. Actually in the same building is located the Quebéc's school of tourism and done of the employee are students at their final stage. The rooms are spacious, clean and full of comfort. If you... More
