Nice, small and quiet hotel close to many popular Montreal attractions. Beds are really comfortable and the service is very friendly. Didn't realize the hotel was in the middle of a major renovation during our visit. Should look nice once completed.

Last year I stayed in the largest suite that the Chateau Versailles has, and this time I wanted to stay in one of the regular rooms. On arrival the doorman did the valet parking, and we entered to a very nice reception area. Our room was ready, and we were checked in efficiently. The room was very warm when we... More

Overall, I thought this was a great place and had a very nice stay. I would definitely recommend it. There was a small glitch when I arrived - I had booked online (and paid for) a suite, but was given a regular room. When I inquired, they were very kind and gave me a suite right away. I suppose it... More

Poor maintenance, untrained staff, basic breakfast. Had to change room because bed was too narrow for a couple. Chateau Versailles is a shadow of what it used to be 4 years ago. For the rate they bill you, you have much better hotels in Montreal.

First off, we prefer small inns, B&B's or AirBnB. Chateau Versailles fits this category perfectly. Its staff is very friendly, helpful and attentive to your needs. They are also funny. We were there during a blizzard and the valet who had to retrieve and park our cars spoke of how much he loved winter. Normally in our travels one has... More

The hotel room we were in was small, but my significant other and I are still young and thin enough to squeeze around the room. Plus, we came to Montréal to explore the city, not to spend the large portion of it in the room. Everything was clean, so I was happy about that. We had a charming street view.... More

Quiet and cozy with European ambiance and close to many favored attractions - what could be better. Great complimentary breakfast comes to mind, and well-planned packages. Always friendly staff tops the experience off.

Chateau Versailles has become our place to stay when visiting friends in Montreal. Quiet, refined Victorian decor with friendly staff and a good continental breakfast. Ideal location for downtown with Crescent Street close by. As the hotel entrance is up broad staircase with central handrail it has no wheelchair access (to my knowledge) but it's sister hotel across the street... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
