Stayed 3 nights whilst touring (3 nights in Montreal was probably too long) and this fitted requirements; clean, tidy, location, reasonable price. The hotel is older than some - note there is no lift - and will probably need redec before too much longer but OK now. Breakfast room is a bit cramped and we had to eat off our... More

This is a boutique hotel . We had two rooms booked , a double room and a room with two queen beds , however on arrival the one with the two queen beds was not available for us. Eventually we had to take two double rooms with one room having a futon. This was unexpected. This hotel is built basically... More

I love this place! It is so cute, comfortable and elegant. The front desk workers are great and very helpful. The complimentary breakfast is delicious and the rooms are large and comfortable. You also get free wifi which is very helpful. The location is prime for walking to the major attractions and the price is right.

Most enjoyable hotel de charme, I am so happy my wife accompanied me on this conference trip as we so much enjoyed the charming amenities, the comfort of a place feeling like home. Lovely rooms with all amenities, cosy breakfast area. Staff is friendly and helpful. Nice restaurants in the neighborhood (do not miss Bistro Gourmet). The Museum of Fine... More

We were in Montreal for a conference and the location next to Concordia was excellent. I rented a car for the day to see relatives out of town and used Direct rentals just around the corner. The staff at the Chateau were wonderfully kind and helpful. We had a lovely ground floor room with great natural light , the bed... More

We chose this hotel because of the old vintage charm and the proximity to all buzzing cafes ,hip restaurants , art galleries in the area. We got a room in 3rd floor and it was clean and cozy, just what we had expected. The staff at the reception were incredibly helpful explaining the attractions in the area. We enjoyed the... More

I loved staying here. It was quaint but convenient. The staff was always kind and accommodating. They even added sweet personal touches like fruit infused ice-water in the lobby. The rooms were comfortable and always kept clean and the breakfasts were tasty. They has the best croissants. I highly recommend staying at this hotel. Plus, it's close to lots of... More

The hotel had a charm that is only experienced with an older property and the location was lovely. It had most of the amenities of a newer hotel but during our 7 night stay the A/C, coffee maker and drapes needed some minor adjustments. If you are opposed to stairs, beware that there is no elevator. Probably the small ineffective... More

The Chateau Versailles is (or appears to be) a really beautiful boutique hotel converted from a group of large, adjacent townhomes. The décor and furnishings are classic European. Your stay will include continental breakfast and the hotel offers valet parking. The staff is very pleasant and professional. The only drawback is that the hotel does not have an elevator, so... Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
