First day arrived Montreal. It was midnight when we checked in. And found lots of ants on the bed and all over the floor! Terrible for us, tired, and have to change the room. It got no ants any more, but small room with a monster noisy air conditioning unit.

Management response:

Dear valued guest, I would like to thank you for your comment and I would also like to apologize for the inconvenient you encounter during your last stay. We have taken steps to correct the ant’s situation since your last stay and we are constantly monitoring the situation. As for the noisy air conditioning units, we are in the process... More

The BW Hotel Europa is a very stock-standard hotel; no real frills or difference between this and any other chain hotel in the world. The WiFi was a bit patchy and the air-con too loud to really leave on - given it was a real heatwave outside this might have become a problem. There's a spa on the top floor... More

I am a high school French teacher and I had eight rooms booked. I am only going to review two. Room 243 was very humid, especially the bathroom. The adult in this room killed 18 baby cock roaches in this room. The front desk staff was notified and were going to spray the problem. YUCK! Location is great but comfort... More

Management response:

Dear Valued Guest, We appreciate your comments but we very strongly deny the information you obtained from another adult in your group regarding the presence of roaches in our hotel. We had the room inspected afterwards by a professional extermination firm and they did not find any evidence of the presence of roaches. Your group stayed with us for three... More

The room size was fine (2 double beds) and it was clean. A door to a king room was open and it was huge but no complaints about our double. Thank God the air conditioning worked very well since it was sweltering outside. The Wi-Fi connection was very spotty and unreliable. The elevators are old and slow. No view from... More

We have stayed at this hotel a few times, but things were just OK this time. We chose it due to the great location. The room was very small, which we were prepared for, but the monster air conditioning unit took up a lot of space. The chair from the desk kept getting stuck under it if you sat down... More

This is an affordable priced hotel in the heart of downtown montreal. Make sure you get one of the rooms with king size bed, they have just been renovated. They are large and very nice.

Recently renovated, nice bright foyer, floors served by 2 elevators, we had a room overlooking the front street but it was still quiet, room was good sized and clean with hardwood floors, 2 double beds, fridge, coffee maker, 46" LCD, iron/ board, good supply of towels and toiletries, curved shower curtain and free wi-fi. However there was no in-room safe... More

Right downtown, and close to the Metro, the location is great for the price. Comfy and a bit run down, furnishings are out of date, and some problems with age, i.e. old showers, doors that stick, tiny elevator. I'm a light sleeper and had no problems with noise. We had a problem with the air conditioner in our room halfway... More

This hotel is very well located in the heart or downtown Montreal. I've been to this hotel last year and they have since renovated and improved the Internet connection. It is very clean and very nice. The room I was give was large, nice, clean and the bed was very comfortable. They have a Cora restaurant on the first floor... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
