First off the road in front of the hotel is under construction, completely closed off. So no bus service and walking is a nightmare. Walking from the train station (was told 13 minutes)( not a senior pulling luggage uphill), horrible. The sidewalks and streets were completely tore up pot holes, irregular sidewalks and construction. No greeting by the front desk... More

Might've been 2 1/2 stars if that was possible. Okay room in an older hotel (renovated) with over stressed elevators. Apparently there was once a fun pool & roof deck but current management took that out to squeeze in more rooms. Buffet room is wildly popular. Management wasn't particularly friendly or helpful. There was an error (our fault) in our... More

Hotel rooms are comfortable and great, only downside is the elevator is slow. Sylvian (I believe that's his name) at the front desk was absolutely wonderful and gave clear directions and Nicholas had great recommendations. Housekeeping always had a smile on their face and said hello. Overall marvellous hotel and will definitely stay here next time.

Location is excellent. As is the bed, room size, and air conditioning. So was the room cleaning. The breakfast was good although its room got too crowded often. Internet service and desk are convenient. The lobby and breakfast staff were always helpful. However, the bathroom layout is small and awkward. TV selection is terrible as it has no complimentary English... More

I was in Montreal for a week on business. I had tried to stay here a couple of years ago, but it closed for refurbishing. I am so glad that I tried again. My room was beautiful. One wall is all windows, there is a nice desk, a dresser so you can unpack, and a good sized closet that actually... More

Stayed here a week in August. Beautifully refurbished hotel, and rooms, and washrooms are spectacular. Got upgraded to a one bedroom suite as well. Staff at the front desk was very friendly and helpful, especially Angelique. Nice location only a block and a half from St Catherines

This hotel was recently renovated. The rooms are done nicely and are rather large but the bathrooms are very small and lacking in conveniences (like enough hooks to hang towels so you can actually reuse them). Also, as with most Marriots, the blankets are not encased in a cover so I always feel like I am sleeping with a dirty... More

We stayed at the Rue Peel Residence Inn for a week using our Marriott points.. Family of 3 + a dog. They were kind enough to accommodate us by giving us an upgrade to a 1 BR Suite on the top floor which was very spacious for a downtown hotel, even for the 4 of us. The breakfast was hot,... More

On a long business stay (3 weeks), it's nice to have somewhere as good as this to come back to. Comfortable bed, good bathroom, a kitchenette and plenty of space to stretch out in. The location on Peel St is pretty central. You're ten minutes from the business district in Place Ville Marie and a quick stroll from the shops... More

Our family of 3 stayed here for a week in August and couldn't be happier. The outside of the hotel doesn't really stand out much but was still relatively easy to find. The location was terrific - Peel Station entrance was only half a block away, St Catherine's St only two blocks away, lots of eating options around. We stayed... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
